From forbidden to Public ----Forbidden City

Advantages: historical site
Disadvantages: too big and too crowded

...than 11 years. I visited Forbidden City several times. Briefly I would like to say if you want to know Chinese history in the late 500 years, you must visit Forbidden City also know as Palace museum. It was an imperial palace for Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). During the period there were 24 emperors and their families. Now it's a public museum. It is famous as one of world five palaces and one of World Heritages. There you can see Chinese ...
...your payment back. Forbidden City also has Mandarin and English tourist speakers at some important sites. Better to ask the time and you would not miss it if you want. Compared to Tower of London, it is bigger a lot. There is a very small tea room. So better to dress comfortably and take some water with you. Personally, I think 4 hours of visit is reasonable. Best time to visit is in May, Sep and Oct. Price: 60 RMB or 40 RMB (winter time) must see ...

One interest thing is I find a starbucks in the imperial palace, it is not very good though, it break the whole environment at all. Because this palace is a very traditional structure, I think modern stuff break the environment. There are three main palaces and so many small palaces in this place in my ...

Advantages: Beautiful, historical landmark of beijing
Disadvantages: it is sooo big! and probably wont get round to see it all

The Forbidden City lies in the center of Beijing, it is called Gu Gong, in Chinese and was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Today it is known as the Palace Museum. It is the world's largest palace complex surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall with thousands of buildings inside. It is to the north of Tiananmen Square and is one amazing site to see! A portrait of the late leader Mao Zedong hangs above ...
...be the colour symbol of the royal family wihch is why it features alot within the city and all the roofs are yellow tiled. It is a vast area to visit and you would need at least 2 hours to be able to appreciate it for what it is. When i visited it in June i was blown away by the size and complexity of the buildings within, they are just stunning to look at. There is a small charge to get into it, but is no more than a few pounds per person. The ...
