Briefly I would like to say if you want to know Chinese history in the late 500 years, you must visit Forbidden City also know as Palace museum. It was an imperial palace for Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). During the period there were 24 emperors and their families. Now it's a public museum. It is famous as one of world five palaces and one of World Heritages. There you can see Chinese ... ...your payment back. Forbidden City also has Mandarin and English tourist speakers at some important sites. Better to ask the time and you would not miss it if you want. Compared to Tower of London, it is bigger a lot. There is a very small tea room. So better to dress comfortably and take some water with you. Personally, I think 4 hours of visit is reasonable. Best time to visit is in May, Sep and Oct. Advantages: too many advantages Disadvantages: some modern stuff break the environment
This palace has buit in Qing Dynasdy, many Kings in Qing Dynasdy use to live in this palace. It has been rebuilt many times in order to showing for tourist. it is one of the most famouse attractions in Beijing and even China. Thousands of people go to visit the imperial palace everyday, it attracts lots of foreiners as well. From this palace, I have learned a lot of Chinese history, especially the Qing Dynasdy part. It located just in the middle ... ...the time I have been there, I went by underground, which cost only 3 yuan. I have been there 3 times, each time I was gaining different experience. One interest thing is I find a starbucks in the imperial palace, it is not very good though, it break the whole environment at all. Advantages: Beautiful, historical landmark of beijing Disadvantages: it is sooo big! and probably wont get round to see it all
The Forbidden City lies in the center of Beijing, it is called Gu Gong, in Chinese and was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Today it is known as the Palace Museum. It is the world's largest palace complex surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall with thousands of buildings inside.
It is to the north of Tiananmen Square and is one amazing site to see! A portrait of the late leader Mao Zedong hangs above ... ...be the colour symbol of the royal family wihch is why it features alot within the city and all the roofs are yellow tiled.
It is a vast area to visit and you would need at least 2 hours to be able to appreciate it for what it is. When i visited it in June i was blown away by the size and complexity of the buildings within, they are just stunning to look at. Advantages: know Qing history Disadvantages: it's price
Forbidden City is one of the most famous attractions in Beijing and even China. Thousands of people go to visit the imperial palace everyday; it attracts lots of foreigners as well. Why I attracted to visit this place? because I'm foreigner? Maybe YES!!! This is the most historical grand site you must visit.
