Advantages: Very exciting race, differing from it's dowdy image Disadvantages: Buttons misfortune, the boredom of seeing Schumacher win - again
Time for another of my fortnightly editions of the Grand Prix weekend. If you’ve missed anything, you can catch up here
It doesn’t seem a long time since the F1 party returned in Australia nearly 2 months ago, but we are already at the 5th round in Spain. With Ferrari staking their claim after a simple 1-2 at the last round in San Marino, Williams have shown some cracks in their armour, after a mediocre weekend. Mclaren too have now ...

Advantages: Great For Action Disadvantages: The Drivers Know The Track Almost Too Well
...for cosmetic reasons. On a formula one car they are there to push the cars wheels on to the track, giving more grip. When the rear wing collapses, it causes the whole car to become unbalanced, and when you are travelling at nearly 200mph, its not good!
So, we have a whole team retirement before the race day even begins! So what else is to come? Well, there is big talk about Rubens Barichello doing well today, being second on the grid. However, ...

...over*
“Anything can happen in Formula One and it often does”. How many times have we heard Murray spout that phrase? Well, today it did happen and I’m fairly sure he didn’t say it. Anyway, the results don’t really tell the story of the race but here they are anyway.
1st - Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) – Qualified 1st
2nd - Juan Pablo Montoya (Williams) – Qualified 12th

Advantages: Safe, well-built circuit, good prospects for competition. Disadvantages: Overtaking extremely difficult, indifferent public, teams have extensive prior knowledgeof the track.
...focuses more on motorbikes than Formula One, and despite the fondness of their King for Formula One the attitude of the public is indifferent at best.
The second big problem with the Spanish race is that it rarely throws up surprises that upset the order established in earlier races. Quite simply, this is because the Barcelona circuit that hosts the race is used constantly throughout the off-season for testing purposes, and so the teams know the ...

Advantages: Tough ,demanding circuit. Purpose built. Disadvantages: Not many
The Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona home of the Spanish Grand Prix, like Sepang in Malaysia,is a purpose built circuit which has also become renowned for being the most important FI testing facility. This year's race is especially interesting as this will be the first race since 1992 with traction control in operation which basically means all the drivers will be a lot faster into corners and coming out of them,as compared to when the device was outlawed.
The ...

De Ja Vous. Review ofFormula 1 Circuit, Barcelona, Spainby

Advantages: Weather can make the race more interesting. Disadvantages: Not normally an exiciting race.
This track is so well known by the teams that there is the fear that they will just treat it as another practice session rather than a race. Most of the teams practice extensively at Catalunya because of the variety of features on this track and also its convenience of being in the centre of Europe.
The track includes quite a long straight, where cars can almost reach 200 mph, some very long curves and some slower corners. With this variety of ...

Advantages: Good race with holiday prospects Disadvantages: none
...called "the off Season" in Formula One may be a boring time for the TV viewers but its not so for the many teams around the world who are frantically designing next years car.
Once these cars are ready to roll, much testing is required.
This is where the Barcelona track becomes very important to the teams.
From Late December onwards, many days are spent at Circuit De Catalunya which has become the home of most major off season Testing and is probably ...
