...celebrate the start of the Formula One Motor Racing season, beginning in Melbourne Australia. The date – 9th March 2003.
The circuit is Albert Park, Melbourne; a circuit which is partly a road circuit, as well as having the setting of the park itself. The back drop is Melbourne’s CBD and St Kilda Road area. The Grand Prix Australia has been at the Melbourne circuit for several years now, and is also the date that most F1 fans wait for, from the ... ...and last year in particular, Formula 1 has been slated for being boring, predictable, fixed, lacking in excitement, dominated by Ferrari, etc. So over the winter months, the executives have been reconsidering some of the rules that govern the sport. Viewers of the sport were drifting away and Bernie Ecclestone’s digital TV channel was not very successful either, although £12 to watch a badly commented race could have been the reason for that.

...the second round of the Formula One Season now completed I figured it was high time to finish this opinion on the previous round. As I mentioned once or twice in my previous opinion, my recent excursion to Melbourne was primarily to watch the Australian Grand Prix which is obviously the focus of this opinion. I was almost like a kid at Christmas and this enthusiasm only grew as I heard the impressive throaty roar of a V8 engine fire up in the distance. We quickly made our way through the Gate 10 and proceeded to the Schumacher stand located between the final two corners of the circuit and just before the home straight. The view from the stand does not allow you to see a huge amount of the ...

Oh look the first op of the new Grand Prix season , and it's by me- what an honour .
Oh what a start to the Grand Prix season - incident packed , dramatic yet almost predictable !
Qualifying was spoilt by rain that persisted for the last 40 minutes of the one hour window . Sato of new team Yahama , failed to qualify due to mecanical problems which only enabled him to do a few laps in the rain . However he had ... ...given wild card entry by FIA .
As per usual Ferrari showed pure timing perfection and managed to get both drivers out at the right time , to maximise starting positions . The others had a mixed blessing .

Advantages: First race of the year. Disadvantages: Hard to overtake, mainly slow corners.
The FIA 2002 World Championship kicks off shortly at the Albert Park circuit in downtown Melbourne, Australia. I decided to kill some time while I wait for the battle to commence by writing some hopefully interesting information for other fans of the sport.
The track is located in a large park in the city centre and has hosted Grand Prix six times since 1996, when McLaren were dominant.
I'll describe a lap of the track to you, for the hardened ... ...a load of cars driving around in circles can skip this bit if they like!
After the short-ish start/finish straight the drivers brake hard from 180mph to the slow, 70mph right hander, Jones and then they accellerate immediately through the left hander Brabham which eases onto a flat out section of track. Of course you will know Jones (Alan) and Brabham (Jack) are well known Aussie F1 world champions of the past.
The next straight is quite short ...

I know, I know. It has come a bit late - well 8 months late but here it is, the complete guide to the Australian GP 2001. Remember good writing knows no age. By the way watch out for my reports on other GP's too

Advantages: Good looking circuit. Disadvantages: Death of a marshal.
This wonderful looking circuit is a great way to break the Winter F1 Grand Prix famine and return to regular fortnightly races. Albert Park in Melbourne is the venue of the Australian Grand Prix and is always bathed in sunshine and extremely popular with everybody in the sport. Even with all the cleaning and preparation that goes on before the Grand Prix event this does mean that there are always some remnants of oil and muck on the track at the start of the practice sessions. Advantages: A good, fast circuit. Disadvantages: Not ideal for overtaking, races often inhibited by poor reliability due to early season placing.
...Sunday 4th March the 2001 Formula One World Championship begins at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, Australia. It will be the sixth Grand Prix held at this location, which has become firmly established as a popular start to the season for drivers, teams and spectators. In 1997 the Williams-Renault team were unable to do so and Heinz-Harald Frentzen's disc exploded while chasing David Coulthard's McLaren, sending the Williams spinning ...

I went to the 1997 Australian grand prix. Cheap flight into Sydney then a train to Melbourne. I was able to find a hotel with no problems even though I hadn't book. I had pre-booked the race ticket (grandstand opposite the pits) and enjoyed the whole weekend. Melbourne was a great way to start the F1 2001 season off. At last it's only about 5 months since the last grandprix but it seemed like an eternity. The moents of truth were upon us.
