Advantages: High-speed circuit racing circuit, Home to Italian Motor Sport, exudes history Disadvantages: None I can think of…
...speeds quoted are based on Formula 1 cars with a V10 engines! At the start drivers are presented with a long straight stretch where F1 cars will be doing speeds of up to 215mph and driving flat out only to brake heavily down to about 55mph on approach to the tough 1st chicane, this is one point one can see a lot of cars spin out. On approach to the 2nd Chicane Curva Grande cars are seen accelerating with speeds of up to 190mph on leaving the speed ... ...‘Curva Parabolica’. As mentioned, the Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place in September, though there are plenty of other races throughout the year taking place when I visited in March. I had actually joined to watch the 3rd Formula Challenge Monza Show; this appeared to be a mixture of F3000 and touring cars, mainly Lancia Integrale, Renault 5 turbo and a Ferrari GT. Watching the series of cars braking hard and downshifting on approach to ...

...you’re taking your home made Formula One car to Monza it’s probably a good idea to just take the rear wing off to reduce drag as much as possible for the long straights. It wouldn’t hurt to paint your car red and pretend you’re Italian. Less chance of being pelted with missiles from the grandstands that way.

Despite the blight of launch control, there was actually some action at the start. Montoya and Barrichello did little but threaten to cause action. The brace of Schumachers ...

Advantages: exciting Disadvantages: ferrari home ground
A circuit above all others that exudes history with the original track built way back in 1922 still recognisable. Home to the Italian Grand Prix Monza is always a race full of atmosphere; this is the home of the prancing horse, Ferrari, and their passionate followers, the Tifosi. The circuit itself mildly resembles a modern-day Circus Maximus, fast and probably the closest you will see to an F1 Oval circuit.
The history of the track is outstanding ... ...way back in 1971 by Peter Gethin in a time of 1 hour and 18 minutes. It was also the closet race of all time with 5 cars crossing the finish line within 1 second of the winner.
Tomorrow sees the 50th F1 race held - the most of any circuits - Damon Hill still holds the fastest ever speed around this circuit of an average of 155 miles an hour
Monza is the track of incident. Remember back in 1995 David Couthard spun off only to restart until a red ...

Advantages: Great track Disadvantages: Intimidating atmosphere
...producers in order to be Formula 1 constructors champions.I say CONSTRUCTOR'S CHAMPION because they dont follow the drivers. They follow the car. They do not care if Michael Schumacher is Driving or Margaret Thatcher, as long as Ferarri wins.
Because of this, it is a very intimidating place t odrive if you are not in an Italian Red car.
Eddie Irvine discovered this to his cost. In 1999 he went to Monza as the toast of Italy. The golden boy.
It ... ...Booed and rejected, Eddie left last year in a negative mood. No points and no fans.
Monza was also a place of great sadness last year as a Marshall died during the race after being hit by a loose tyre from Heinz Harald Frentzen's car.
It is a very fast track cut through the forests of Italy.
It is broken up by Chicanes similar to Hockenheim to reduce the cornering speed.
A great experience to see a sea of Red cheering and jeering the cars around ...

Advantages: Very Fast Disadvantages: Hard on brakes.
The Monza circuit is the home of the Italian Grand Prix and is a mecca for the fanatical Ferrari fans. The circuit was opened in 1922 and has been the home of the Italian Grand Prix since 1950.
This very fast circuit is one of the quickest of the year with cars reaching speeds of 220 mph. The long straights and sweeping corners mean that most of the cars are set up with low wing levels, but this provides problems when going into the slow corners ... ...only takes a small misjudgement by a driver for him to overshoot a corner.
The circuit tends to favour the high powered cars, although the stresses on the cars make reliability a major factor.
The chicane at the first corner has often been the scene of an incident at the start of a race and before the 2001 Grand Prix the drivers were discussing their tactics for the start of the race whilst on the grid, just a few minutes before the race was due ...

Advantages: Good, fast corners, fast circuit, good overtaking opportunities, Tifosi Disadvantages: Not a perfect layout
The hype before a race at Monza is a little exaggerated. The Tifosi are mostly responsible for this although they do make the atmosphere at race-time electric and as I am a Michael Schumacher fan, they make it for all the right reasons in my opinion.
However, Monza is not much of a race-track compared to the magnificent SPA circuit in Belgium which will host the 2000 season's venue in Belgium, this weekend. I am quite excited.
Monza is a fast track ... ...Coulthard taking Irvine round the outside on the last third gear sweeper leading on to the pitstraight (the name of the corner evades me at this time). It is undoubtedly a much better venue than Silverstone but it is not, in my view, THE best circuit although it isn't far off. Suzuka, Spa, Imola, Monaco - its there somewhere. When deciding for yourself which is the best track, you have to decide what are you differentiating them on. Track layout, ...

Advantages: World Championship Closer Than Before Disadvantages: Large Accident, Death of Fire Marshall
Italian Grand Prix - Monza 10 September 2000
Michael Schumacher got his World Championship back on track today by closing the gap to Mika Hakkinen from 6 points down to 2 points with three races left. Schumacher dominated the race from pole position right to the finish, only losing his lead for a couple of laps after pitting earlier than Hakkinen.
The expected first corner pile-up didn't happen like many of the drivers predicted, instead it was ... ...rear of Jarno Trulli who in turn hit Rubens Barrichello and David Coulthard - all four cars slid into the gravel soon to be followed by Pedro de la Rosa whose Orange Arrows was launched into the air! None of the drivers were injured in the accident although unfortunately a Marshall - Paolo Ginslinberti of the Monza track was struck by a loose wheel from one of the cars and later died from his injuries.
The first 11 laps of the race were held behind ...

This is my favourite track of them all. Beautiful scenery, good pit lane, great speeds down the straights, and some good corners.
I love this track. I know it off by heart. I can drive this trck lap after lap, and not get bored, well probably after a very long time.
Fairly good quality track, and at Italy, the home of Ferrari, plenty of ferrari fans will be there. A graet track. good for watching and racing on. If you play any PC games, this is ...

Last year Monza was the scene of a horrific accident which led to the sad death of a race marshal. This led to calls for the track to be banned, but in my opinion Monza must remain, it is one of the best tracks in F1.
Like Hockenheim this track is fast, long straights followed by chicanes. This makes for great racing, overtaking is rife and the race is never boring unlike a lot of other tracks. It is set in the trees, a little like Hockenheim and ...
