The Hotel Fortina Spa Resort is situated at the end of a road looking over the Marsamxett Harbour in Sliema towards Valetta. A view I personally adore, as there is always something happening on the water, it’s usually busy with all types of boats but during the storms in December we enjoyed watching the huge waves breaking on the rocks and the occasional Navy boats braving the seas!
Over the last couple of years there has been a lot ... ...always been available at the Fortina when I have stayed, but the Spa Sante had only opened its doors the previous week.
THE SPA SANTE
It is a state of the art spa for relaxing, de-stressing and de-toxifying. This is included if you are staying in a Spa bedroom but for the rest of us there was an additional payment. Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Its some distance from sandy beaches, if you like your beaches....
...the Fortina. The Fortina is an excellent hotel, in an excellent location. Situated in Sliema, its close in proximity to both the capital Valletta (a few minutes by ferry, or a short bus ride), and the popular nightlife orientated St.Julians area. Sliema itself is bustling with countless bars, restaurants and shops. The location makes everything you could possibly want to do easily accessible.
The hotel itself is clean, the rooms are spacious and ... ...is worth it!). The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food was of a good standard. The hotel has pools both at the back and front, the front one being salty and the back not, catering for both adults and children. Nightlife in the hotel itself is not amazing, but with a St.Julians, Paceville, and Sliema itself on your doorstep, you need not venture far! ...

...all inclusive stay in the Fortina Spa Resort (5* opened in 2006) and included Club Class return travel with either BA or Air Malta, with Malta transfers and a 2 hour harbour cruise, at a cost of £900 each. Air Malta (Heathrow Terminal 4) provided an outstanding service on both outbound and return sectors - far better than BA! We booked a superior harbour view room and were allocated one on the tower's 4th floor facing Pieta and Marsamxett harbours ... ...also be used in the Fortina hotel bars next door. All drinks are included except aged whiskies and XO Brandy and the like and the cocktail menu is very comprehensive and served by friendly bar staff. There is good live music in the bar area; sadly the piano and musicians are almost hidden from the Limes bar lounge, which has very little character and loads of bar stools, which make it difficult to get to the bar and order drinks. ...island of Valletta, as the Fortina is by far the best situated hotel on the island. There is also plenty of relaxing, and enjoyable sightseeing boat cruises. You can swim in the sea under the stars, or enjoy swimming in the Fortinas sea water swimming pool, and enjoy the seaview while you are swimmimg. This Spa is also perfect for sufferers of painful conditions, as Thallaso treatments included in the package are excellent for pain relief, or if ...
