Advantages: Gorgeous weather most of the year round, good value, beautiful seas and so much more! Disadvantages: None
I first went to Cyprus two years ago and returned again last summer. It is an absolutely ideal place to go for a couple of weeks of relaxing in beautiful surroundings and ideal weather. Being 23 years old and not really in to the drinking and clubbing atmosphere, I prefer to stay a little distance away from the popular clubbing destinations, but not so far away that it makes it too long a journey to get there, if I decide to go out one night. I stayed ... ...ideal location where you can have the best of both types of holiday - a relaxing time in a quieter part of the island, but also close to the more lively places like Ayia Napa for night-time fun! There are many holiday apartments and hotels to choose from in Limassol, which is one of the larger towns in Cyprus situated right by the sea. I was lucky enough to be staying right off the main road that runs along the coast. The mountains are a lovely place ...

Cyprus - Paradise Lost
I first visited Cyprus in 1999 and since then have been four times, it is by far my favourite holiday destination. I have compiled as much information about the place as I think you will need as a newcomer to the island.
GEOGRAPHY
~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Cyprus is situated at the eastern end of the sea, it's nearest neighbours being Turkey to the north and Israel to the east. The island ... ...two week holiday but large enough that you will find new things to do even after you think you know the island well. The road network is very good with motorways between the major cities of Nicosia (the capital) and Larnaca and Limassol which are both major ports. The motorway network is based on ours in the UK so it will seem quite familiar and they even drive on the left. You rarely get traffic jams in Cyprus though, at least not on the motorways.
Advantages: sun, sand, sea, good variety of food, cheap, and did I say .. Sun? Disadvantages: can be a bit too 'touristy' in places, for some people
I'd never been to Cyprus before I went there last year. People had said how beautiful the island was and how friendly the people are and they really are spot on! We stayed in the resort of Protaras over on the East of the island. Fig Tree Bay is an area on the edge of the resort blessed with beautiful stretches of white sand, but also having a tree lined hinterland and plenty of areas to walk through and discover. The resort itself, though not the ... ...variety of styles of food to choose from. Traditional British fare, Fish & Chips, Pizza, Burgers etc, but much better quality in Restaurants catering for French cuisine, Chinese, Mexican, Thai and Indian. Plus the odd Greek style Taverna or ten! Nearby, about 10 km away, is the "happening" resort of Ayia Napa. Full of tourists looking for nightlife. Don't get me wrong, Protaras itself has plenty of bars, a couple of discos and enough places to "let ...
Advantages: A very nice isalnd with nice clean swimming water Disadvantages: Some restaurants are not altogether clean
Cyprus I have to say is a very good place to go for families. I went around six weeks ago and I went with my whole family. I enoyed it immensely and I liked it a lot. I went Sea Dooing or Jet Skiing every single day. It was very cool and if you like adrenaline then you will like it a lot. The food is good if yo go to the right places and I loved all the sea food. I had some very nice garlic prawns that tasted amazing. I also had some calamari which ... ...have to got to be pafos, Ihenapa, and Nicosia. These places are very good and also if you have enough time and money you can rent some very nice villas by the sea and have a beach holiday. One thing to watch out for is some of the restaurants aren't very good. If you are going to a restaurant make sure that you chose well or else you will not have a very good restaurant. Basically look at the outside of the restaurant and if it looks well built and ...
Advantages: Central position on the island of Cyprus, loads of bars and places to eat, friendly people, not too far from the airport Disadvantages: Gets very crowded, beach not too brilliant
My fiance and I went to Limassol for a fortnight this summer, and had the best holiday yet! We stayed in a bungalow studio at the Roussos Beach hotel, which was spacious, clean and overlooked the enormous and extremely warm pool (as do all the bungalows in the two storey-block). The restaurant at the hotel was outdoors, but covered with an ENORMOUS vine, from which massive bunches of grapes hung, turning from pale green to darker red whilst we were ... ...half board there, because there are so many restaurants to try in Limassol, from either la carte or the set price 'tourist' meals (as little as £5 for three courses) at one of the hundreds that line the Limassol Strip, through McDonalds (air conditioned you see - brilliant when it's 35 degrees or more outside!) to the latest Pizza Express on the island - which had only opened a week before we got there.
We enjoyed our stay in Limassol - but if we ...
cyprus is the nicest place that i have ever been to in the world. Its about a 5 hour flight from Manchester UK airport. Once you arrive there, the temperature is good, nice and hot, the people speak english, and are all really friendly , unlike some other countries in the world. They drive on the left, which makes driving a car, nice and easy ! Most of their cars, are automatic transmission. they dont all drive like idiots. Night life is good, beaches ...
Advantages: Sun, Sea, Sand, and a whole lot more!!! Disadvantages: can be quit noisy
This is a great holiday destination for all age groups, but perfect for the 18-30s! Theres so many pubs and clubs to choice from and all at affordable prices in comparison to other clubs throughout Europe. The best club in Napa is Pzazz, which was voted 'Best dance event' in '99, it boasts of the best sound and decor on the island.! Other good clubs are Club Castle and Abyss, and Ice. There are family options for bars and restaurants, which even ... ...out instead of the hustle and bustle of clubbing. Cyprus is great for those who just want to come away on a relaxing holiday,the quiter areas which have more breathtaking views (in my opinion)are Paphos and Protaras.
The great thing about Cyprus is that its as expensive as you want to make it, great hotels, food, drink and you come home with a fab tan!!!! ...
Advantages: Great weather - good food - cheap ale what more can i say!! Disadvantages: Going home!!!
I went To Cyprus On the 27th Dec to spend a fortnight there with my boyfriend who is based in the army there. We stayed in Larnaca which is a quiet area of Cyprus but you can hit a few pubs and clubs if you take a short taxi ride into the Town Centre. Limassol is only an hr away and Aiya Napa is just 45 mins away if you want a busy nightlife. I spent New Year in Limassol and it was great with fireworks in the street and cheap drinks in the pubs. ... ...and I will be returning for a holdiday there in Summer. The weather was nice even in December/January and I can't wait to go back there for the real heat in July.
Cyprus is ideal for just about anybody and there are great opportunities to travel while you are there. I went to Egypt by boat for 3 days and it was a bargain at just £80 each. If it's scenery you want then I can tell you the sea is lovely, the beaches are great and the sunsets are to ...
Advantages: Quite cheap, excellent beaches, hotels and nightclubs, many historic sites Disadvantages: Might get too warm, please don't visit the north.
Being a cypriot myself I can assure you that anyone who visits this island will have the time of their life. The weather is excellent and during the summer, temperatures reach on average about 35 to 40 degrees centigrade. There is so much to do and see in Cyprus, I do not know where to start. If you are looking for nightclubs and action, there is of course Ayia Napa which is growing in popularity every year and is rivalling Ibiza as europe's number ... ...holiday, areas such as Larnaca, Paphos and Limmssol are ideal. The island is blessed with beautiful, clean beaches and many have been awarded blue flags and have trained lifegaurd aswell. The Trodos mountains have ski resorts right at the top and the air is so clean and fresh up here you will feel revitalised and alive. The island has sites of historic interest everywhere, the most famous are the king's tomb in Paphos, Kolossi castle (built by King ...
Advantages: Great Choice for A Clubbers Holiday Disadvantages: Not so good for the older generation!
This place is amazing! We actually went out of season and were amazed at what was still on offer. This is the place to go if you have done Ibiza and loved it!! Clubbers paradise anbout sums it up. There are a number of themed bars and clubs including The Bedrock Inn (based on the Flintstones of course!) Starsky & Hutch, The Black & White Club, The Simpsons Club to name but a few... we even encountered a club with a swimming pool, great fun was had ... ...go to Ayia Napa!! It is also a fantastic place for kids with great beaches plenty of places to eat, watersports and amusement parks all within one long stretch of beach. Advantages: The roads are good Disadvantages: The place is a building site
I went to Cyprus this year with my family (this includes a 4 year old. I was extremely excited by the prospect of hitting the Med. again. I lived in Greece for a year as an English teacher and love the relaxed attitude to life and the warmth, among many things. We stayed in Pafos, flying into the nearest airport which was handy. The hotel was called The Kefalonitis and we did self-catering, (although breakfast was included). The hotel had leisure ... ...dump. Pafos itself had pockets of beauty, like the cliffside view from the marketplace but on the whole it was full of roadworks and the food in the restaurants was mediocre to appalling. Do not be tempted to try the Chinese cuisine - just take my word for it. The coastal road from Pafos in both directions was picturesque and we found a magnificent beach called something like the General's beach. We took a short cruise out of Pafos harbour but the ...
Advantages: Superb nightlife, friendly relaxed atmosphere, great people Disadvantages: Some people may find it a little too lively
I have been to Ayia Napa (in the South West of Cyprus) for the past 2 years running now, and I am still thirsty for more. A testament to the popularity that Ayia Napa is gaining with the younger population as the Nightlife capital of Europe can be found in the sheer difficulties faced when trying to obtain a holiday there in high-season.
Like many other resorts in Cyprus, Ayia Napa is blessed with beautiful beaches, friendly people, lots to do, ... ...it's own, however, is at night, when the younger generations come out to play.
Mainly centred on the Main Square (awash with people, bars, and music), the Nightlife amplifies outwards to streets filled with more bars, and clubs catering for every style and taste in music.
The older people, or parents, depending how you look at it, are also catered for with a whole host of great restaurants and more relaxed bars offering fun for the family. I would ...
I visited Cyprus two summers ago. I visited the limmasol area and stayed in the Hotel Adlantica/Royal Court apartments. We arived at the hotel and my first impressions were that the hotel was beautiful! There was a lovely and massive swimming pool with deck chairs surrounding it and a bar serving refreshing drinks. There was a choice of staying half board or all inclusive. The island itself is very beautiful, the people are fantastic and the weather ... ...in the appartment area which meant we had to eat at the restaurant and we much prefer a buffet. It was a lovely holiday but if you prefer buffets stay in the actual hotel and not the appartments. There was a good selection of food including a vegetarian choice. There were many excursions and trips available although they were quite expensive. Car hire was available. ...
I HAD THE BEST HOLIDAY OF MY LIFE IN CYPRUS. I HAD HEARD ALL ABOUT THE CLUBBING ETC GOING ON IN AYIA NAPA AND THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN RATHER NOISY, BUT WHEN WE WENT IN OCTOBER IT WAS FINE, I WENT WITH MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND FOUND SOMETHING FOR BOTH OF US. THE BEACHES ARE BEAUTIFUL AND THE PEOPLE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE FRIENDLY. WE WENT ON SEVERAL TRIPS LIKE PATHOS AND NICOSIA. BOTH WERE GREAT. I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERY ONE GOING TO THE TURKISH ... ...DID NOT HAVE AS MUCH TIME THERE AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED. DONT JUST STAY IN THE MAIN SHOPPING STREET GO OFF INTO THE LANES WHERE THERE ARE SOME GREAT LITTLE SHOPS.
ALTHOUGH IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN GOING TO SAY MAJORCA IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY AND I CANT WAIT TO SAVE UP AND GO AGAIN ...
