    Disadvantages Disadvantages Weather unpredictable

New Zealand is such an amazing country I have truly fallen in love with it! After 6 weeks of traveling the North and the South Island I fill very happy that I covered most of what this country has to offer. I am going to give a brief over view of New Zealand as I am planning some more in depth reviews about each place. I hope this will give you an idea of how long you need in each place, the highlights and the best advice for getting around etc Traveling around New Zealand: There are many options available to you, camper vans and cars are the best way as you get to create your own journey ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful country, plenty to do, uncrowded, easy to drive around, friendly people

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor FX rate at the moment makes everything a bit pricey, long way from UK

When we moved to Australia in the middle of last year, we made a list of places we planned to visit and I recall that New Zealand was pencilled in for year six. A few months later and with our appetite whetted through conversations with new colleagues, New Zealand was promoted to become our first planned holiday destination in the southern hemisphere. Needless to say the journey was a nice easy one for us and without the daunting prospect of 24 hours on a plane we decided that a two week break would be adequate. Just as well as this was all the time we could spare. As we started to firm up our ... more

5 Stars New Zealand welcome, Kia-ora Review with images 31/01/2006

Advantages Advantages Kiwi welcomes you to Aoteoroa - Land of the Long White Cloud

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long way from anywhere, don't let this put you off

Kia-ora. Welcome to my place...... Fished up by Maui, a Maori God, in never-never-land tales, New Zealand is a true paradise, in the South Pacific. The myth tells that he stepped all over bush-clad land; leaving crystal-clear lakes in his footsteps, glistening in cool-green native bush, amid massive, rugged mountains, some so virginal they stand today, unconquered by man. In the millions of years that this beautiful country has evolved it has seen primitive life, the Moriori, Maori and European settlement, less than 200 years ago - so it is a new country in civilised history. It's thought that ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Scenery, lots to do

Disadvantages Disadvantages long bus rides to see the whole area

New Zealand is the youngest country on earth, it was the last major landmass to be discovered. Its history has both Maori and European heritage. There are still amazing Maori historic sites to be found some dating back almost a thousand years. When I visited New Zealand in July I decided to take an organised tour as I had limited time. I travelled with a group of other like minded travellers and we were transported around on a bus with two tour leaders who gave us loads of information along the way. They organised my accommodation and recommended tours to go on in each place we visited. Also ... more

Advantages Advantages Great culture, lovely people

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit quiet in places for those that like a hectic nightlife!

The title is rubbish but I thought it would get your attention...:0) Journey to New Zealand On the 8th of May 2004 I and 4 friends flew to New Zealand for the final week of our holiday. We had already visited Thailand for 4 days and had experienced very mixed weather in wonderful Australia for 3 weeks…what would New Zealand hold in store for us… General Stuff New Zealand (NZ), as I’m sure you will all be aware, is located to the south east of Australia (as we look at the map). However, it isn’t one land mass as most people assume. NZ is made up of two islands with extraordinarily brilliant ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful scenery, friendly people, fantastic!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long way away from anywhere, weather (sometimes!!)

My first impressions of New Zealand were what a beautiful country it is! With a population of around 4 million in total, it is very untouched and natural, and even though Europeans moved in they still keep a lot of the Maori names and I got the feeling they respect their predecessors, a lot more so than Australia with the Aboriginal people. It is actually located across 2 of the earth's tectonic plates so earthquakes are frequent (although severe ones are very rare so don't let this put you off visiting!) and you can see how the ice age, glaciers and volcanoes have shaped the environment with ... more

Advantages Advantages Friendly People, Cheap while there, Too much to see

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long way away, Expensive flights

Well, where do I start? I guess I should start by introducing it. My family and I decided that a holiday was called for, so we got out the atlas, and looked for a place that would suit the best of all worlds- english speaking, warm climate, family friendly. So, we decided on New Zealand. We started looking around for the best deals. Eventually, we decided that (due to our lack of knowledge about NZ), we should leave it to an operator to book it for us. So, with 12 weeks before we departed, our holiday was booked and the research began. New Zealand is situated in the pacific ocean, to the south ... more

NewZealand. Location: Oceania, islands in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of Australia Capital: Wellington Population: About 4 million NZ is an absolutely stunning destination that I cannot speak about highly enough, clean airs clear skies, backdrops of mountains, empty coastlines, amazing views... it is the perfect outdoor destination. Advantages Advantages Beautiful, Cheap, Friendly,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long flight but thats all!

Thinking of travelling around New Zealand? I spent 5 months touring around so hope I can offer some tips:- Travelling alone? Well if you want to meet people the best way to travel is to use one of the two popular coach tours around the island(s). Choose from either 'The kiwi experience' or 'kontiki' coach tours. Both are very similar but their routes and trip length vary. Advantages of this: No need to plan things as the routes and accommodation are all taken care of, get to meet people, cost effective. Disadvantages: Don't get to choose your own route and therefore may not get to see ... more
