A Caribbean experience in St Vincent

Advantages: Cheap, gorgeous scenery, fantastic beaches, nice locals
Disadvantages: Few resorts, you need to know a local

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“SVG”) is located in the Windward Islands at the lower end of the Caribbean chain. SVG is situated between Grenada 75 miles to the south, St. Lucia 24 miles to the north and Barbados 150 miles to the east. SVG has a tropical climate that is influenced by the North East trade winds, resulting in a minimum temperature of around 28 degrees centigrade, and boy does it get hot in the summer months. St Vincent is often referred ...
...get on the island and do a bit of exploring it is easy to see why. ==Tourism== Tourism obviously brings in money and this is something that the Government are actively trying to grow. Whilst there is some tourist activity in St Vincent, there is not that much compared to other Caribbean Islands. On one hand this is nice since a holiday on St Vincent is a real cultural experience and you do what the locals do, however, on the other hand it is stifling ...

If God had meant us to float...

Advantages: Scenery, beaches, people, coral reefs, boats, sea life
Disadvantages: Expensive, not for people who don't like boats

I'll be honest, right from the start. Cards on the table, I'm a land dweller, I'm not sure we have any business mucking about on the ocean. My usual enquiry on boarding a water-borne vessel is, "When are we getting off?" However, as a child I fished in the English Channel from what I recall to be nothing more than a rowing boat, later, I ran booze across the same stretch of sea by ferry and hovercraft (these days I take the train), I sped along the ...
...I now understand may not have been entirely legal). I Ribbed for seven straight days in wild Scottish seas. Once, between Melbourne and Tasmania, I finally understood that saying about an even keel, as I watched an initially spotless and civilised passenger ferry fill steadily with vomit during a night crossing of the Bass Strait, retiring to bed as the afflicted huddled together in panic and desperation on the restaurant floor. For an hour or so ...

Cruising in the Grenadines

Advantages: Unspoilt, beautiful beaches, uninhabited islands
Disadvantages: Remote, hard to get around without a boat

This chain of islands forms part of the Windward Islands, stretching between Grenada and St Vincent. You really need to be on a boat to see them properly. We chartered a yacht from The Moorings and sailed around the islands for 10 blissful days. We started at Canouan, in the middle of the chain, and visited: Bequia - a sheltered harbour with great bars and restaurants, and a wonderful turtle sanctuary Mustique - playground of the rich and famous, ...
...Vincent - great snorkelling and my favourite place on earth: Tobago Cays - five small uninhabited islands within Horseshoe Reef, the only thing between you and Africa! Wonderful snorkelling, incredible beaches and hardly anyone around - maybe another yacht or two. Every day the local boys come round in their boats and offer to sell you fresh fish, lobster, bread, ice, jewellery, etc. They aren't too pushy and are very welcome when the nearest shop ...

The most romantic place on earth

Advantages: Beautiful untouched beaches
Disadvantages: a bit quiet

I don't think i would be lying if i said that Petit St. Vincent is the most romanric place on this planet. A small private island in the Grenadines it is quite a find. The island is privately owned and is very expensive but it great for honeymoon and verrrryyyy special holidays when you want to splash out in style. A total of 18 cottages only and a staff count of 350 makes everyday day amazing. There are no phones or TV's so you get plenty of solitude ...
...of the staff drives around the island looking for orders. Every cottage has a pole outside and you can place 2 color flags outside. A red flag means don't come in or bother and yellow flag means we need something and your request is delivered to your cottage. My holiday was magical and amazing the pampering, the sailing, the snorkelling and white sands and the blue water made it the most amazing week of my life. It is very expensive but it is worth ...
