Advantages: Too many to name - you'll have to read the opinion I'm afraid. Disadvantages: Perth, the capital, is very remote so too many people fail to visit WA.
This opinion will take on a slightly different style to my recent travel opinions as instead of a guidebook style op this will take a more travelogue description of my 10-day, 3500km-road trip of Western Australia. I should probably mention that it is by far the longest opinion I've written on the site so be warned.
My adventure began as weary and slightly hung over on a Saturday morning myself and my two intrepid companions dragged ourselves down ... ...choice (well actually it was the cheapest) a one year old gleaming white Toyota Corolla 1.8 which is quite simply in terms of looks and performance, the worlds most boring car. The only interesting thing about it was the yellow sticker on the doors that had the company’s obscure and unfathomable slogan of "No Birds" on it. After several confusing moments of trying to fathom out Perth abundance of one way roads I finally managed to navigate ...

Advantages: Scenery, wildlife, beaches, lovely towns - pretty much everything!! Disadvantages: Long drives to see anything (but in a way makes it good as not crowded)
Having just had a 2 week holiday in Western Australia I thought it only right I should share it with you all! This is more an overview of the places I visited rather than an opinion on the whole state because even though I covered more than 2500 miles in 7 days I didn't cover hardly any of the state when you look on the map because it's that big!
Western Australia covers 2.5million square kilometres and constitutes about one third of Australia, ... ...it's population is a mere 1.6 million. Getting anywhere is a long drive, and hours upon hours staring at perfectly straight roads without seeing another vehicle is not uncommon. This is what adds to the character of the state though and I actually loved it because it feels so untouched and un-touristy compared to the East coast of Australia.
If planning a trip to this state, take into account the seasons. In the south, there are mild winters and ...

Advantages: Tranquil, peaceful, great scenery Disadvantages: far away from perth
In western Australia, there is such variety in a state that is bigger that Britain and Ireland. Whether you want rolling countryside, barron desert, excellent surf or city life, its all here.
I was lucky enough to visit western Australia for Christmas and the Millenium and I will be returning there very soon. I lived in Perth for 4 weeks, went to a seaside resort called Dunsborough which boasts caverns, A huge variety of Vineyards offering the best ...

Advantages: unforgettable, dolphins, great fun Disadvantages: none
I will never forget our visit to Monkey Mia during our family vacation in Western Australia. The wild dolphins there will swim up to you at the beach and will play and frolic with you. These tame, yet wild dolphins will let you pet and feed them too. There is a shop nearby where you can buy fresh fish for these beautiful sea mammals. The dolphins have a slippery, yet soft and smooth skin which feels nice to touch. There are very happy and friendly ... ...small beach, which is located approximately 850 km north of Perth, regularly over 30 years.
Most often you can get to know them during the morning hours and early afternoon. A part of the beach is reserved for swimming and playing with the dolphins.
You are only allowed to feed them fresh fish which live in these waters. Visitors are monitored by the resort staff because the mammals should not be feed too much as they could become dependant on ...

Advantages: sunshine, heat, friendly locals Disadvantages: flies in day
travelling up to Exmouth from Perth took me 18 hours on the Grayhound bus, but the trip was worth it.
I arrived at 3am and the temperature was 35 C. New years ever 2003/4 was 46C during the day. Ok, so the air conditioner was used, but the surrounding area is beautiful. The sky so blue it hurts. Have you ever seen an Emu up close?....I have...the wild male and the ckicks sauntering around town.
The soil is a vibrant red/orange and the beaches totally ... ...Tiger Sharks were becoming rather too friendly and swimming within 2feet of my toes.
Fishing is fantastic, size really does matter! You almost don't need bait on the hook. But the most impressive thing about Exmouth is Ningaloo Reef....so totally comparable to Great Barrier Reef.
Padi Courses are available at very reasonable prices and so are glass bottom boats. the National park outside is beautiful and well managed. Even looking after the smokers ...
