Barcelona es teva.

Advantages: A good transport system.
Disadvantages: none

...is a nice way of getting an overview of the city and finding your bearings. The buses follow two main lines, the blue and red line, which have a few stops in common. Although I have listed this here, and you can get on and off the buses at several stops in places of interest, it is not all that useful as a mode of transport. The buses follow circular routes and it takes quite a long time to get back to your starting point. You can buy tickets for ...
...you wouldn't be better off getting out and walking straight to your destination (in the fresh air). ~The Telefčric de Montjuďc~ ****************************** This is a cable car which runs between Barcelonetta and Montjuďc, the mountain which dominates Barcelona. Even though I hate height, we always seem to do things that involve climbing 8 367 steps or hanging from a cable by our fingernails… I exaggerate, but my husband seems to love dragging ...

Barcelona - A simple guide to sights

Advantages: Spanish culture, sights and wowness
Disadvantages: ....Searching......Searching.......None found.....

Loney Planet says: 'A feast for the senses, Catalonia's capital has a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Its revitalization for the 1992 Olympics made Barcelona the place to be on the continent. A picturesque location, Europe's best-preserved Gothic Quarter, Gaudí's delightfully cheeky architecture and galleries with the treasures of Miró, Tápies and Picasso make Barcelona visually stunning indoors and out. "New Catalan Cuisine" and tapas bars tempt ...
...the cutting edge.' And thery are dead right. There is so much to talk about the sub-capital, but here is my top 4 highlights of my trip. Top sights: Sagrada Familia: Otherwise known by the complicated name of : Temple expiatori del sagrada familia (church of the sacred family) If you are into churches and/or architecture as a tourist destination, La Sagrada Familia is a must-see in Barcelona. This magnificent structure was begun by Antonio Gaudi ...

A beautiful holiday.

Advantages: Lots to see, kindness of people, quite everyone know English
Disadvantages: It's not so cheap...

I went to Barcelona two summers ago. It's quite a few years I wished to spend there a few days and then I got the chance and I went there for a week. It was the first week of August, so there were a lot of tourists and people everywhere, however it was not so difficult to move from a place to another and to enter the places... Only Picasso's museum was impossible to enter if you weren't there before the opening hour because the queue was infinite. ...
...of styles mixing together: from gothic(in Barry Gothic) to modern stile of the first 20th century… I wished to visit Barcelona above all to see Gaudi's works. I was with a friend of mine and we set in a cheap 3 stars hotel near Ramblas in the centre of the city. We found good weather, not so hot to be in august, and was perfect because we had to walk a lot. Barcelona tubes are easy to find but there's not a good linking from place to place like ...

To Gaudi and back...

Advantages: Great underground and weather
Disadvantages: Too much to see in a short time

I have visited Barcelona on numerous occasions and absolutely love it, so trying to be non-bias on a review there is difficult to say the least, but here goes anyway... The size of Barcelona isn't that daunting if you imagine an area from The World trade Centre on the waterfront to Gaudi's Segrada Familia but there is so much to see and do within the area that you'll never see it all unless you plan and use the excellent services available. The ...
...is public transport. Barcelona has over 100 bus lines and over 1000 buses covering over 120,000 kilometres every day. The metro underground system has over 500 vehicles which cover the 123 stations on the 90 kilometre network. More info and planning can be done by visiting their website on www.tmb.net. It's in English as well as Spanish. Both systems are clean and inexpensive and get you to where you want to go fast and without stress or weary legs. ...

Take the right shoes

Advantages: Loads of great buildings to see
Disadvantages: They are miles apart

Yes,Barcelona is impressive, and architecturally uplifting, but you tend to miss a lot unless you walk. This is definately the way to get around the old town, in the area of the Ramblas, and near the Plaza Catalunya s Avoid the rainy seasons, February, March, October. If you get wet in Barcelona you get really wet!! Be careful, though, about taking a walk by the Olympic Village and along that part of the esplanade. It is a much greater area and ...
...you are climing up to the Olympic stadium from the centre, be aware that you need a whole afternoon. It is a bit of a trek. I frankly prefer Madrid. There you can walk relatively short distances and soak up loads of athmosphere in the centre. Barcelona´s huge avenues, on the other hand, mean that when you look in your guide and see that you are in a street nearby to where you want to go, you can be fooled into walking. Half an hour later, after ...

It beats London Underground!

Advantages: Speedy, cheap, reliable.
Disadvantages: Watch for pickpockets!

...tourists should watch for the inevitable pickpockets. I got targetted by two men while getting on the train. One pretended to drop something and bent down in front of me, and the other felt around my back pocket. Luckily I'm not stupid enough to carry anything of value in there! ...

Wandering the streets of Barcelona.

Advantages: Cheap Buses, Easy to use Metro, great open top bus tours.
Disadvantages: Far to much to do in a weekend !

After taking advantage of the cheap flights on offer I decided to take my wife to Barcelona for our wedding anniversary. I must say that the both of us were unsure what we would find there but I can assure you that it rapidly became one of my 'places to go again'. From the setting of the Olympic games to the Temple of the Holy Family everything was simply breath taking. As Well as the reasonable Metro system and buses there are regular open top tour ...
...like. This is a fantastic way to have a whistle stop tour of what Barcelona has to offer, and be able to get off and have a visit if you want. My favourite area was La Rambla. This is a couple of miles of road that has simply everything, from street theatre to fantastic Bars and restarants. There is no need to get any public transport for this just stroll up and down taking in all that is good about Barcelona. I have since learned that the time to ...

Barcelona!

Advantages: Everything!
Disadvantages: The expense of eating and drinking on Los Ramblas!

I was taken to Barcelona for a surprise trip last October. And what a surprise- it was an amazing city with so much to offer! We stayed in the University area of the city, about a ten minute trip into the city centre using the underground. We found there was so much to see and do it was hard to fit it in to the few days we were there. I would however recommend a few things to definitely do- take some time to wander up and down Los Ramblas, there ...
...are a feast for the eyes (and the stomach!) Take the time to sit and watch the sunset on the waterfront- it is truely beautiful. Try and find places to eat in little backstreets, full of Barcelonians they are the best! Also try Place Reail (sp!), there is a restaurant that always has a queue outside- but trust me, it's worth it! We found the underground the easiest, and cheapest way to get around. Buy a 5 day ticket and you can jump on and off as ...
