Ahh, The Tube. If you live in London and you don't have a chauffeur driven car, a wage that can pay for billions of taxis or an expense account as long as my arm, you're likely to find yourself clattering along on this thing at some point. It is the fasted and most efficient way to get around London. Most of the time.

...you may ever see so getting drunk is not an option. Don’t be nervous though – millions of people travel on the Tube every day without any problems.
** There is a general etiquette to follow when travelling by Tube which makes life a little easier. When walking along corridors it is expected that passengers stick to the left-hand side – this ensures an even flow of traffic either way. When on escalators, you are requested to stick ... ...leg it past you on the left. Oh – and eating smelly food or putting your feet on the seats is a no-no as well!
** Enjoy the history and style of the Underground. Whilst it is essentially a form of transport some of the stations and lines in London are quite curious – the Docklands Light Railway is probably the line with the most to see. Many stations in the centre of London were constructed in Victorian days and you will see all sorts ...

...thing to a car is getting around London in a tube a.k.a The London Underground!!
I usually travel around London in the tube or sometimes using the railway. Which ever one both services are absolutely great.
OK, let me start the opinion. I do not want to talk ages about my life.
--~What is the tube?~--
The tube is basically a system of transport which runs throughout the outskirts of London. The tube consists of trains which travel to most parts ... ...a "travel card" rather than getting a "single" or "return" ticket.
The price are as follow:
One day Travel card: Z1 & 2= £4.
Z1,2,3, & 4= £4.30
Z1,2,3,4,5, & 6= £4.90
Z 2,3,4,5 & 6 = £3.50
The prices are based on adult tickets but the price of a child is always £2. (Z=Zones)
Although if you are going to travel in a family the best thing is to get a "family travel card". The price is much more cheaper and the best thing children travel at 80p. ...

If you’re anything like me then you’ll have experienced the frightened rabbit situation when using the London underground, all hustle and bustle and too many people trying to get onto a tube train. I encountered frightened rabbit syndrome when I first travelled the London underground…alone.
In the past I’d always needed my hand to be held whilst I’d get lead from one platform to another by my tube-wise friend and I ... ...to follow. This was good enough for me and I did not want to learn how this complex looking network worked! Then I started my IT job which meant I had to grow up, let go of my friends apron strings and …gasp…travel the underground alone (strike of lightning).
My first experience is a blur and I prefer not to remember it (or rather I cant remember that far back!), but it only really took 3 visits to London to get used to the underground, ...

I just thought I’d put a few bits of trivia together, hopefully to make it all the more bearable, and explain why things are the way they are.
London’s Underground lines can really be split into two main types (no, not the ones that work and the ones that don’t). Firstly you have what could be called genuine “tube” lines, the likes of the Piccadilly, ... ...common. a)A common diminutive size of train designed to shoe-horn into a 12’ diameter pipe, b)Their central London stations are all relatively deep level involving escalators or more rarely these days, lifts. These tunnels were created using “real” boring machinery with minimum disruption to the surface level.
c)There is no route sharing, i.e. they don’t run on each other’s tracks, being dedicated to a specific route.

Advantages: great way to get around London Disadvantages: all the people
The tube is a great way to get around London and is generally a safe place, but having been a regular tube user over the past few years I’ve picked up a few ways to make navigating the tube a bit easier and possibly a bit safer.
Most importantly always carry your wallet or purse in front of you even when sitting on a tube train, e.g. in an inside front jacket pocket instead of in a bag. Keep your ticket separate from your wallet. If someone ... ...as well, and with the number of times you have to swipe your ticket you won’t be showing your wallet each time.
Take plenty of change to buy tickets from ticket machines where possible (notes are accepted but only if there is enough change in the machine). If at a larger station e.g. Euston, buy your ticket from a ticket machine on a concourse. Once you’ve gone down the escalator to the trains the queues are always longer.
A travelcard ...

Advantages: quick and easy access around London Disadvantages: Can be too packed and too hot
Everyone will of heard of the tube, even you Northerners of ciao.
The tube network is one of the most popular and regular used services for access around London.
As London is such as big community and the roads are always congested it makes sense to use the tube to avoid the congestion in the mornings.
The tube is mainly used for people travelling to and from school or work during the week and for shoppers to the capital on the weekends.
The ... ...London and if not directly you can change lines and get to where you want to go.
The tube has been facing some problems over the last year or so though due to drivers wanting extra pay and some stikes have occured. The last few that were planned have been thankfully called off. On the tube you can buy all types of tickets for your journey and these can be brought from the counter or from a machine, which are at all stations.
Each station has a ...

For more years than I can remember I have had to trek across London and as bad as the tube is its in general faster than the bus, even if you live on a direct route to your destination it still goes via every road in London to get to its destination.

Ways of getting in to and around London~~
Whenever I go to London I always go by tube, when I go in with my friends and when I go in with my parents. To me it's the only way to go, I hope this opinion explains why clearly.
Going into London by car is not nice, the driver gets stressed with all the traffic and stressed with trying to find a car parking space. And when you do find a space you will be most likely horrified at how much ... ...London?
Another alternative to getting around London is black cab. Well a cab will take you from A to B for a fortune and probably get stuck in traffic making the fare even hirer! But one thing you will be guaranteed is a friendly cabbie! With my parents we've got London cabs a few times and every time we've had a friendly and chatty driver.
The final alternative - buses. Well if you get a travel card it includes unlimited travel on London buses ...

...dreamy haze, you spot someone getting off the train, freeing up a seat. You manoeuvre slowly towards it, only for some hyperactive bastard boarding the train having spotted the seat from the outside to jump into it as though it were the front of the 'Get Britney's Virginity Here' queue. This is only half the problem, as then you meander around for three seconds looking like a walking advert for Red Nose Day and pretending that you didn't really want ... ...until the next stop. Where the process repeats itself all over again. Yes, I love these seatswoopers; I love them so much that I call them a very special and endearing name: "It's Too Early In The Morning For This You F**king Scum Of The Earth Bastards." Now, I realise that so far in this article I've sworn more than Shaun Ryder in a streetfight, so I shall not spend too much time on those aforementioned (bastard) dot (bastard) matrix (bastard) screens. ...

Advantages: Extensive network Disadvantages: Expensive, unreliable and dirty
...I could be sure of getting home. And the NY system is cheaper too, not to mention cleaner (marginally). Okay. Enough wibbling. Here are my tips, as a lifelong Londoner, for getting the best out of the tube system if you're a casual visitor (if you're a resident, you know as much as I do already)
1: Buy a travel card. You only have to make two trips for it to start paying off, and it saves having to queue/suss ticket machines/find change every time ... ...all possible. Very handy for getting north/south. The most unreliable lines are the Northern (and be VERY careful which branch you get on - the CHaring Cross and Bank branches are completely different and getting the wrong one will be infuriating) and the Circle, which is always slow and fairly infrequent. The District is quite good, but not one for anyone with a deadline to meet, it potters along at its own speed and does some really complicated ...
