The Ghurka Buffet Restaurant & Bar (Fully licensed) is situated on Waterloo Road in the South Shore area of Blackpool. It is part of the Alpine Hotel and run by a group of ex-Ghurka soldiers. We first went to the Ghurkha restaurant because my husband and I were searching for a place to go for my best friend's birthday. We wanted somewhere that offered all you could eat and there are a few to choose from in Blackpool. ...with my brother and three Ghurka lads, that was my first experience of these amazing people. Years later I was serving in the British Army and was fortunate to be taking part in a 3 day race in the Cumbran marches in Wales. Apart from being possibly the most disciplined soldiers I've ever come accross, the food we sampled of theirs on the side of the mountain was extraordinary and really hot. We were told to try Ghurka resturaunt by our hotelier when we stayed in blackpool in march, it was our friends wedding anniversary so we wanted something a bit different than fish and chips on the front. We were not dissapointed it was absolutely fantastic, the choice was great, i love the starters i could just eat them, but i did manage a little of the main courses to and they were yummy. We will be back in blackpool in a couple of weeks and are planning another visit, can't wait, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. ...
