Gothenburg (Sweden)

I am currently living in Sweden and one of my favourite places to visit is Gothenburg, or to give it its Swedish name 'Göteborg' (pronounced Yur-te-boy). I guess Gothenburg might not seem like the ideal weekend destination for a trip with the lad's but let me reassure you it would be one to remember. Now I have to be honest here, as I am a bit of a Jackal and Hyde character when it comes to weekend trips away. Gothenburg has been voted the friendliest town in Sweden several times and this is no mistake. Even though it is the second-largest city in Sweden, it feels more like a small town. It has a great amusement park, Liseberg, which has lots of rides as well as a few quiet green spots. Since Gothenburg is on the coast, there are several good beaches (there are tramlinks to some) and there are many islands that ferries go to.
