Advantages: Exciting, Chaotic And Delightful. Disadvantages: Leaving Town.
Hanoi is often the first taste of Vietnam that many tourists get and if you were to go by first impressions your stay there would probably be a short one. Hanoi is the capital of the north and can be a little overwhelming. The city is overrun by motorbikes which makes the task of crossing the road an arduous one. Add to this the thousands of touts flogging every product imaginable and you have a cocktail of noise and interruption. In saying all this ... ...that the next ATM after Hanoi is to be found in Saigon at the other end of the country (so stock up!). ACCOMMODATION The best place to look for accommodation in Hanoi is in the old quarter. The Old Quarter lies just north of Hoan Kiem lake and is made up of a maze of 36 streets. Each of these streets is named after the trade which is conducted there so for example if you visit Hang Non you will see many shops selling hats (Non is Hat). Other notable ...

Advantages: Still maintains a lot of its original character Disadvantages: very busy and chaotic traffic
Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam and is situated in the North of the country.
We did a tour of Vietnam from North to south summer 2007 with a company I found on the internet. www.selectiveasia.com and I dealt with a man called Nick who was extremely helpful all along the decision making and booking process. I organized my own flights to Bangkok then from Bangkok to Hanoi with an Asian airline again on the internet www.airasia.com but there may ... ...late in Hanoi and we met by our guide Thuy (pronounced two ee) who was a delightful young man about 24 years old. His parents were teachers and had lived through the Vietnam War, Thuy was too young to remember, he said. It was great to have a guide just for us as we were able to ask all kinds of quite personal questions which Thuy was very willing to answer We asked all kinds of questions about life since the war and how Vietnamese people feel about ...

Advantages: weather more temperated than in south Disadvantages: colder people
...my opinion inhabitants of Hanoi prone to crunch you more than in the south part. Even though if our purchasing power doesn't have anything comparable with theirs the gesture itself is more that questionable. . The taxi drivers are often hand in gloves with hotel keepers. Avoid the Chau Than Hotel without mentioning any name, and prefer the Sport Hotel that will propose you some appropriate prices on average 7 dollars for a room and tariffs travel ... ...the city, ha long bay and other obliged sites.
Choose preferably to pass otherwise by Sinh cafe where these tariffs are also normal. After these small annoyances I could visit the city, jaunts in the center lodged in the old city to the north of the lake HOAN KIEM? walks in the animate streets and broadsides of craftmen and shops.Very good atmosphere and life in the night. I visited the following day to the Hochi Minh mausoleum half an hour waiting ...

Advantages: It's a peaceful city with many beautiful sceneries Disadvantages: there are not so many places for entertaining
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam (in the Southest Asia). It is located in the north of the country and has the population of more than 3 million people. Hanoi is almost 1000 years old (995 years old actually). The city is beautiful and people here are very friendly. +++ THE WEATHER +++
- Hanoi has 4 different seasons: autumn, spring, summer and winter (unlike Ho Chi Minh city: only dry and rainy season). However, I think the most beautiful time of ... ...many places to go in Hanoi but I'll just write about some famous places that you really should go.
- Uncle Ho's Mausoleum (to people that don't know who Uncle Ho is - he was the greatest leader of Vietnam): it's a decent place but really beautiful - as you can see in the photo. The mausoleum is surrounded by many trees, grass cover,... After visit the Mausoleum, you should visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum - which is close to the Mausoleum - there are ...

Advantages: Good for sight seeing. Disadvantages: traffic
We first arrived in Hanoi from Moscow after a 2 day delay. We picked an expensive hotel at $25 for a room for 2 but it had a great balcony on the third floor that overlooked the old quarter. You could do worse than treat yourself on arrival.
One thing that stuck on arrival was the bicycle and motorbike traffic. There is an art to crossing the road. The best way to just to walk slowly across and the riders weave in and out of pedestrians. This does ... ...small but has it’s own charm.
Living expenses are fairly cheap. You can eat pretty much anywhere for a dollar and get accommodation for $5 up. Hanoi is one of my favourite cities and much less commercialised than Saigon. I would recommend it to anyone travelling to the country. ...

In my life, I can never imagine that there is a kind of art or puppet show called water puppets. The puppets are actually 'performing' in the water, with water filled up to their waist.
The performance consists of several acts telling their mythological stories about the Chinese invasions, the village life, the fisherman's life and so on. The performance is accompanied by the traditional music played with traditional musical intruments. Very interesting, ...
