Haven Warmwell Holiday Review

Advantages: Centrally Located
Disadvantages: Everything has an 'extra' price

Having stayed in many 'Holiday Parks' before and read the previous review here at Ciao, our expectations were perhaps to high for Warmwell. We booked late and had to settle for a Bronze lodge (£500 apx pr wk) which may have been the start of our problems. The site was easy enough to find and can be reached from several junctions off the A35. My first concern was that the holiday park would not allow us to book a Microwave oven in advance. We were ...
..."first come first served" basis. As we were not able to "Book in" until 4pm (and gold and silver lodge customers having been served some time earlier) there was no real chance of securing a Microwave oven so we did without. We were very disappointed with the accommodation on arrival. The lodge (189) was dirty, dusty and smelled badly of damp, The double bed was buckled and depressed. The lodge was very badly equipped (as a self catering accommodation) ...

Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park, North Wales

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

NB This opinion has been moved across from the Wales General category, since this review is not representative of Wales as a whole, nor Haven Holdiay Centres. Wales is a beautiful country and the people are extremely friendly and it is unfortunate that we had an unpleasant experience at this particular Haven centre. *************************************************** If you can picture a cemetery on a good day i.e. sun shining, a few people milling ...
...excited, childish screams from a local swimming pool, then you’ll have a fairly accurate image of the Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park, North Wales in October. When we decided to book an Autumn break at a Haven Park, upon the recommendation of a few misguided people, we spent some time scouring the brochure for a site that was situated in a picturesque part of the country, together with plenty of entertainment for teenagers. In the promotional leaflet, ...

FUN in LITTLESEA WEYMOUTH

Advantages: Great for the Family
Disadvantages: Certain Attractions in Park closed

I recently went to Haven Littlesea Park in Weymouth. It was in september and the weather was glorious,so we were a little suprised the outdoor attractions for the kids were closed,ie:the bouncy castle.I would have thought considering it was t-shirt weather a bit of foresight would have been used. The caravan was fab.We had received a phonecall from Haven two days before we went to up-grade to a gold caravan for a fraction of the cost.I would definetely ...
...the bedrooms back in April this was sheer luxury. All the rooms had heating. The caravan was wider and had 3 bedrooms with a seperate toilet and bathroom. The kitchen and living space area 's were nice and roomy and the door and windows were double glazed. We also had our beds made before we arrived and check in time was 2 hours earlier. I was disappointed that we had a video not a dvd player ,having been told the caravan would have a dvd/video combo ...

Les Charmettes - Haven Europe - try it

Advantages: Location, facilities, accommodation
Disadvantages: Prices, entertainment

"Les Charmettes" is a Haven Europe campsite situated in South West France on the Atlantic Coast. The closest town is the lively La Palmyre, about 2 miles away which is directly on the coast. In terms of its position in France it is near the mouth of the Gironde between La Rochelle and Bordeaux. There aren’t masses of local tourist attractions but much of what you come here for is the beaches and pools. Two places you can visit are the Zoo at La Palmyre ...
...Park” a funfair that opens in the evenings – make sure you get discount ride tickets from Reception. A bit further a field (about 2 hours drive) is Futuroscope – after Euro Disney the 2nd biggest attraction in France. How to get there From the UK, you can fly to La Rochelle (Ryanair) or Bordeaux (BA and others). But being a camping holiday, travel by road allowing you to take everything bar the kitchen sink is the most common way of getting there. ...

haven at devon cliffs

Advantages: all on the park
Disadvantages: very hilly park

July of this year I visited Devon cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth. As we entered the park I was pleasantly surprised how much it looked like the brochure, wow!!!! We proceeded to the reception to get our keys ( a slow process I have to say, but they were very busy so we will let them off!!) THE CARAVAN... Very nice... 3 bedrooms, nice size kitchen and a balcony with patio table and chairs. There was plenty of car space too with room left for the ...
...to do where do I start, we start at the reception and work our way round ( you get a map, but its a little hard to understand). So... we have a reception( very nice), a well stocked shop ( very expensive),a launderette (boring, but essential),a joke shop, sweet shop, photo shop and a place to buy various tickets for tours etc. There is 3 arcades, 2 good ones and 1 very empty room, which is called the games room (I have no idea why, maybe you have ...

Golden Sands, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire

Advantages: Lovely caravan, great site for family
Disadvantages: Arcade addicts paradise, take lots of money

This was to be our first family holiday since having the children, aged between 2 and 10 and decided that if we couldn't afford a holiday abroad, we would choose a holiday that would provide everything we might need on site. We chose Mablethorpe which is quite close to Skegness (I'm told that you can walk along the beach to Skegness). I hadn't heard of this park before but had been to skegness lots of times as a child and remember loving my times ...
...told her that she had been before and it was great so that reassured us. We couldn't get the dates that we wanted and so took our holiday on the 30th August for 1 week. It cost in total £480.00 for the week for the six of us. Booking was really easy on-line and the description of accomodation, amenities and facilities were accurate and informative. Booking on-line also gives a discount of £5.00 (Not a great deal - but if you are going to book with ...

Happy Haven Fun

Advantages: Lots to do
Disadvantages: Very busy

Having been going to haven holiday parks all my life i am naturally going to say i enjoy them. As a young child my parents used to take myself and my sister and brother. Now i am older and have a 4 year old daughter myself i too take her there. We recently went to the park called Presthaven Sands in Prestatyn in Wales. Te price to get there was very reasonable as you only pay for the caravan not each individual! We live in West Yorkshire so the ...
...Prestatyn we were a little confused and got a bit lost as the park itself is down a winding road that is not sign posted very. When we got there we went to check in (you can only do this after 4pm to give them time to clean the caravan). We received our bedding pack and our entertainment passes and off we went to find our caravan. Which we did fairly easily actually!! They provide you with a sit map and all the info you need for your stay. Such ...

Primrose Valley 2001 Review

Advantages: good holiday
Disadvantages: none

The Haven site of Primrose valley was a good place to take the family to for a holiday. There was plenty for the kids to do, rock climbing, swimming, fencing, archery, a boating lake and much more. For dad there was a pitch and put golf course TV with live football on and plenty of bars and clubs. For Mum there was bingo, plenty of places to eat and relaxation due to knowing the kids were OK. There was a train down to the beach and plenty of open ...
...site I’ve been on! In 2001 everthing seems different. The tobogan run has been grassed over and another large piece of equipment taken away and one cafe changed to an amusement room. The site seems to have lost its sparkle and seems to be costing more - to do the same as last year. There is a lack of good food and the one decent place to eat is overcrowded. I get the feeling there is a new need to make money from the customers and a cut back ...

Holiday from hell!

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: where do I start?

Primrose Valley, North Yorkshire September 2004 ON ARRIVAL Clean site, no litter in view. We were politely and efficiently directed to car parking near Linen Store by an attendant. Lots of space to park on grass, although grass a little boggy due to previous rain. CHECK-IN Following signs to check-in led us to the booking office. We waited around 10 minutes in a queue for attention. No other people attending the office joined the queue and instead ...
...After waiting some time, we then approached the counter and were brusquely dismissed and told to wait in Jesters. There were no maps available to enable us to locate Jesters so we wandered in the vague direction we had been given. We asked when we had found Jesters by 12.45pm, and were told tickets would be given out at 1pm, and we would then be called back in at 4pm. After a long wait, the children getting bored, at 1.20pm, we were then told tickets ...

superb sites and service

Disadvantages: booking holidays over the phone

Holidays should be a pleasure so if you wish to have a relaxing break you cant go wrong with Haven camp sites .The complete experience is so easy after the problems of booking, if you get a direct line into the booking office then hey presto instant help. But if you get auto response good luck it can take forever, although it`s worth the wait we use Haven regularly to escape reality, because from reception to leaving nothing is too much for the ...

Haven Holiday Parks

Advantages: loads of entertainment and child friendly
Disadvantages: accomodation on the small side

We have just come back from a week at Coombe Haven Holiday park which was our first holiday with our toddler. We were do aprehensive at first like most people taking a very active child away would be. However the park was all and more we hoped it to be! There were 2 fun pools both fully supervised by lifeguards, childrens indoor fun palace, outdoor adventure playground, kids clubs and teen clubs, evening entertainment for adults and families. We ...
...if i am too be honest but it had all that we needed for a comfortable weeks stay. Our son was entertained to the max every day and he throughly enjoyed the childrens entertainment in the evenings. We to had a good time all helped by the fact that our son was having a good time aswell. Staff very helpful and good stocked supermarket. We have booked already for Devon Cliffs next and Haven have just announced that they will be offering their half price ...

Presthaven Sands, Prestatyn in North Wales

Advantages: Excellent family holiday
Disadvantages: Having to leave after our holiday!

In 2003, my family and I booked our easter break at Haven's Presthaven Sands holiday park in Prestatyn, North Wales and were thoroughly impressed with what we got for our money. The park was well sign posted and only a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside town of Rhyll. On arrival we were only allowed on site after showing our booking form to security and where then quickly checked-in. We stayed in a Bronze caravan which had 2 bedrooms (1 double ...

Haven Blue Dolphin site

Advantages: so much to do
Disadvantages: the price is a little expensive in summer hols

Where do I start if you have children this is the perfect holiday to go on. We have done a few haven holiday parks but this is the best so far, the Blue Dolphin caravan site it’s situated near filey in Yorkshire. Your entertainment is all under one roof. For the 1 to 4 years old this is called Paws they make music and draw pictures dress up and play games with the children, then for the 5 to 11 year olds there is the Rory and Bradley fun time they ...
...they give you a certificate for you to keep. Then you have the group for 12 to 16 they take them and play football, basketball, netball and loads more things for that age group which I can’t really comment on as I have never used this group. The one thing they do ask is if you have children in the younger age groups could parents please stay in the room. On site you have a number of parks to play on all over the camp site there is two amusement ...

wehre to go camping

Advantages: nice and cheap
Disadvantages: disco not as good as some

Buying a tent is the easy part, deciding where to go is tricky. We found the perfect range of campsites. Haven have lots of facilities including how to entertain children upto and including teenagers. The sites are categorised and range from relaxing to all-action. You can have peace and quiet or live entertainment and games. We went to a 'lively' park last time (Kessingland beach) which had indoor and outdoor pools, childrens clubs (with competitions), ...
...etc etc etc. The price we paid was £16 per night for a tent, 2 adults and 3 children. This included our 'passes' which gave us access to all the park had to offer. This site had lovely hot showers which can be rare in some touring facilities. There were also big deep sinks which my youngest had a bath in! I would like there to be another block so that you don't have to queue for a shower but then if you get there early enough then the wait isn't ...
