Golden Sands Haven Holiday

Advantages: Cheap as done on Sun holiday tokens
Disadvantages: Swimming pool needs updating

We visited Haven's Golden Sands park in Mablethorpe in October 2007 as part of the Sun's £9.50 British holidays. On arrival you had to wait with everyone in their entertainment hall to be processed (given keys and maps of the site etc.), this was done very quickly and effeciently even though it looked like it could have taken for ever it was done quickly. I had a 2 year old and a 5 month old and was looking forward to all of the child friendly things. ...
...discovered that their were no family changing rooms, so we had to take a child each and split up the swim bag. This was a shock as most swimming pools have either family changing areas or somewhere on the pool side to change kids, but not here. I feel an update was needed to the entire pool. The children's club put on for the younger kids was not very good, I took my 2 year old, the staff didn't interact with the parents or children and we left ...

Would rather have a week at home. Part 2

Advantages: Cheepish
Disadvantages: Not a great deal to do.

The caravan that we stayed in was at Golden Sands in Mablethorpe like a failed to mention in part 1. I have already told you about the caravan itself so it is now time to talk about my week in boredom central. The Saturday night was a quiet one, after the drive i didn't really fancy going out so we had dinner in the caravan and watched T.V. all night. After going to bed i was just about to get to sleep at just the same time as the club was closing ...
...caravan being very loud. I eventually got to sleep at around 3am and woke up at 7am (That is how uncomfortable the beds are). So i made myself a brew and went for a walk around the site. With it being a sunday things open a little later. So i made my way back to the caravan in time to have breakfast. Later that day we went to the swimming pool for a bit of Tom Foolery and actually quite enjoyed myself. Except for the fact when i finally had enough ...

Warmwell Holiday Park

Advantages: Central to lots of places, Weymouth, Pool, Monkey World, lovely beaches
Disadvantages: Poor accomodation, facilites not brilliant, on site shop is expensive

My review is similar to the previous post. We stayed in a Weymouth 3 bed lodge (one down from the best lodge), about £400 for a week in Sept 2008. On arrival all was OK, until we noticed the very bad damp smell in the VERY small 2nd twin room, our 2 and a half year olds bedroom. We left the door and window open until it was time for bed and she slept in it. In the morning the smell in the room was horrific and felt bad for putting our daughter ...
...were very helpful, but they were fully booked and couldn't move us. The best we got was a de-humidifier, which gathered a very large of water in a short space of time, so we knew it was bad. That night, my daugher slept in mine and my husbands room with my 5 month old, my husband slept on the sofa cushions on the floor in the lounge. went to complain again and thankfully there was a spare lodge (this was monday, so the weekends hda left). Thankfully ...

Haven Golden Sands - Mablethorpe

Advantages: Excellent Entertainment, Shops, people and atmosphere
Disadvantages: The prices are good and bad and so is the quality of some of the caravans .

I have been going to Haven Golden Sands at Mablethorpe for the majority of my life. I have seen a lot of changes over the past couple of years. The first change was to the Haven mates as they were known then from Red and Black Stripy Blazers to Blue, Yellow and Red Stripe blazers and now purple T-shirts with stars on. The name has also changed from Haven Mates to Funstars and now group mates. There are two major changes I can mention that has happened ...
...of the two arches as you entered the main camp with a pub on top, photo shop on the left and reception on the right. The second of the major changes that has happened is a change of who owns Haven in general, first Rank owned Haven but in 2000 Bourne Leisure Group taken over and have made a massive difference for the better, I think. Haven Golden Sands has very good entertainment from the fully trained Funstars. They have children's clubs called ...

Craig Tara Holiday Park / Ayr, Scotland

Advantages: Plenty for kids to do
Disadvantages: Very windy weather and lots of seagulls! dirty underwear in caravan!

Myself, Husband and two children arrived here on 2nd October 2006. We had booked up for four nights in a 3 bedroom standard caravan. We arrived for check in at 3.30pm as requested and only had to queue for 10 mins for our key and linen which wasn't bad. It was only a short drive from main reception to our van. We went in and looked around to see that everything was there like cutlery, crockery, gas fire and all other appliances and everything was ...
...stayed there had left dirty and I mean really dirty knickers underneath the bed in the main bedroom yuck!! We decided to walk around to see what was on site. There was a small fairground, a go-cart track and a huge adventure playground all next to our van which was nice. en-route to the entertainment complex there a vans selling chinese food and do-nuts etc if you're feeling peckish! On entering the main building there is an amusement arcade, a ...

Quick review of Havens holiday parks

This park is in a great location, with ample facilties and friendly staff. Unfortunately the entertainment let it down rather badly. Having paid an additional £27 each for us adults and £14 each for the children we were expecting some first rate entertainment. but instead we found that it was pretty bland. Hardly anything worth mentioning in the way of cabaret for the adults .No comedians, illusionist, or anything outstanding like that. What they called cabaret comprised mainly of singers with backing tracks or the entertainments team, who made it very enjoyable for the kids but left little for us adults to enjoy. I wouldn't bother again. ...

I want to go back

Advantages: Absolutely brilliant for children
Disadvantages: So much to do so little time

My partner and I took our children to Presthaven Sands year before last but last year as we had bought a touring caravan we decided not to go back as we wanted to tour for a few weeks instead. Biggest mistake ever our two boys did nothing but moan that there was nothing to do in the evenings and the oldest being 9 at the time wanted to go and explore but I was unwilling for him to do this alone but whe he was at the Haven park the year before he ...
...wanted to go back. Our younger son was only sixteen months when we went to Haven but he enjoyed himself so much he wanted to go back as soon as we left I think he would have been happy to stay all summer with Rory the Tiger (in case you've never been this is the main character in the childrens entertainment programme which was second to none ). Anyway to cut a long story short we have given in to the demands of the children and we are going to Haven ...

Haven Holiday Park at Devoncliffs Exmouth

Advantages: all you need for a family holiday in one park
Disadvantages: can become very crowded in peak summer months

I believe this is one of Havens,s flagship family holiday parks,so it was with trepidation we booked it. We started a familt late in life so we are acouple of "Old Farts" with two young children,so the concept of a family hoilday park seemed sensible if it lived up to its publicity. The park itself was well signposted from Exmouth on the south coast it boasts it own private beach which is massive. The cavavan we hired was a 2003 model that sleeps ...
...the lounge furniture every night. Well lets get down to it the park was busy, and I mean busy. Therse are lots of activities for the kids football, swimming, dancing competitions you name it and they cater for it. Luckily our children make friends easily and were soon off organizing their own activities. We had no qualms at all about letting them do this as the park is very well controlled. The eating out experience is not great,it caters more for ...

Disadvantages: prices costly, english weather, not open for christmas and new year,

Haven Holidays is a great place to have a holiday in the UK. There are loads of parks to choose from. Owned by Bourne Leisure Limited you have a wide variety of parks and locations all over the UK. On every park there is "Rory's and Bradley's Funtime" to keep the children amused and great entertainment throughout your stay. The holiday parks include a launderette, a supermarket also a gift shop. The shops on site range in price but are really useful ...

Are you Haven fun?

Advantages: Its cheap
Disadvantages: Its dull

Well, for some reason or another, I have just booked a week at Haven in Filey, which, at the moment, I am slightly unsure of. The reason for this is that a couple of years ago my family and I went to Golden Sands for a week of blissful british weather, cheerful holiday camp fun, and a wholly disasterous experience. We got to the site (after an hour of thin, winding, cattle run like roads) mid afternoon, and thought that we could settle everything ...
...the sleeping arrangements, and go for our first tour of the site. Twelve minutes later, and we had seen everything the site had to offer by way of amenities. We were determined not to let this get us down, so we decided as it was getting on in the day, to get ready for a fun filled night out......Zzzzzzz!!! Although, i have to be fair, if you're under thirteen, it may well have been fun, but otherwise, really wasn't that great. The following morning, ...

Devon Cliffs Park

Advantages: Something for everyone
Disadvantages: English Weather!

I would recommend anyone to go to a Haven Site, whether your like me a single parent, a couple, or a huge family with children of all different ages, old or young. My favourtie site to date is Devon Cliffs, Devon is a beautiful part of the country with lots to do. There is something for everyone to do, childrens clubs for all ages, I have 2 girls, aged 5 and 11 who love Haven Holidays, everything about them, from the caravan to the evening entertainment. ...
...not behaving! The beach is lovely, but the only thing that is a slight down side is the slope to get to the beach, especially if you have a pushchair or have walking difficulties. That aside, the staff are always helpful with any request or query, the caravans are clean and well equipped, and if anyone is going on the sun holidays special, I would recommend Devon Cliffs as one of your choices, it is my first choice! Happy Holidays! ...

Tiger Tiger Tiger club

Advantages: Good Entertainment
Disadvantages: Bit boring in the day if its not sunny

We got a good bargain from the Sun newspaper a weekend break for next to nowt. We picked Primrose Valley our accomodation was a chalet quite basic 2 bedrooms & living room & kitchen & bathroom. The room smellt a bit foisty & wasnt as clean as other holiday parks we had been to. The evening entertainment was exellent but they need more comps for the kids & better prizes than badges . My children loved Rory the Tiger & all the dances they made. There ...
...laundry even a fun fair. But if you go make sure u use the map as the site is quite big also if u take the car out late they lock the barriers around the site & its quite hard to get around. Exellent swimming pool but not open long enough we was only in 20 mins and it was closing. This June we are trying Blue Dolphin another Sun deal hope its sunny this time. ...
