Recently used Hertz for a car rental from Boston airport. The car was booked in this country and a fully inclusive (i.e. insurance, etc) was quoted. Upon arriving at Boston, we were told that the rate did not actually include insurance. To cut a long story short, we were forced to pay an extra 70% for insurances. We contacted Hertz in the UK several times for a refund. They agreed and said they would fax Boston airport to ensure it was done on drop-off. ...

I have used Hertz more than any other car hire firm and in the main I have been happy with their service. However my recent experiences have ruined this to the extent I no longer trust them. My issue is the way additions are added on point of sale to pre booked rentals which make the attractive headline figures much more expensive. Scam 1 - Misrepresenting fuel prices. Turned up at Miami Airport and there was a large sign saying pay for fuel up ...

Requested a Mondeo 1.8 for collection from Glasgow airport. Found the condition of the vehicle to be very poor, illegal tyres on the rear. After some discussion, offered an upgrade to an Audi A6 Auto. No alternative offered, found it very expensive on fuel, auto took some time to get use to. Had expected Hertz to be reliable and not offer vehicles that are unsafe. Unlikley to use them again can't risk it. ...
