Advantages: Location and wide range of rooms Disadvantages: Older parts of the hotel need updating
...a night at the Gatwick Hilton when I made a 'flying' visit to the UK to visit my elderly aunt in hospital after she had fallen and broken her hip. I needed a bed for the night as my flight landed at 9pm and I did not fancy driving up to Hertfordshire at night. Having stayed at the Gatwick Hilton on many occasions over the last 15 years, and having seen it through many of its refurbishments, I felt it was about time for a review.

Hilton Rooms. These are the most basic on offer, but still offer a high standard of facilities. The bathrooms have a bath and overhead shower and a selection of Hilton toiletries. I have to say that the furnishings in dark colours can make the rooms feel very dark and miserable, but if you simply want a base for the night this is a small complaint.
Family Rooms. These can sleep up to five people and also include a four-seater ...

Advantages: Walking distance to the Airport Disadvantages: Poor Quality for the Hilton name
...have previously stayed in the Hilton in Bahrain and found it very pleasant. Well that is where the good part of the story ends. We arrive to the front desk. Of all the times that I have stayed at a Hilton Hotel I have found that the bell boys would be there to greet you and basically snatch your luggage out of your hand as you are checking in. Well not this time. The only bell boys ( I suppose they were bell boys) that we seen were sitting down on ... ...come to know from the Hilton Hotel chain. Finally we were told our room number and how to get there. Still the bell boys were sitting on the couch doing nothing at all, and we were left to drag all our bags up to the room ourself. Once in our room at the first thing I noticed was that our non-smoking room had recently been smoked in. I called the front desk and they again did not apologize and did not offer us to swap rooms, hey why not they already ...

Advantages: close to airport, comfortable Disadvantages: expensive, dark
I stayed in the Gatwick Hilton for 2 nights; 23rd March and 1st April. As a general overview I wasn't too impressed with the acclaimed Hilton hotel.
There was a large group of us (about 30) and we all entered the hotel via the North terminal entrance. This was good as you could walk through a sheltered walkway to the main reception. The reception area itself had about 6 different stations that could have been used for check-in but only 2 of them ... ...checking the website but the Hilton site is not working).
THE ROOMS:
We had difficulty finding our rooms as some of the signs contradicted other ones (ignore the signs that are in front of you as you get out of the lifts, read the signs on the main floor itself they are more helpful and correct). Both of the rooms that we had were how should I put this disappointing. They were a lot smaller then expected, in fact I thought that they were smaller ...

Advantages: Sounds prestigious Disadvantages: Not good value for money
...net and discovered the Gatwick Hilton for £139 for a double room. It sounded a lot but this also included 15 days parking, which would have cost around £70-80 on its own, and we didn't require breakfast that early in the morning. So, £139 for the room and parking seemed like a small price to pay - after all, it was the Hilton and big stars and VIPs stay there don't they? They advertised a playstation in the room too, which sold the idea to my other ... ...flight and found the place without too much trouble. While hubby stayed with the car outside(there were threats of wheel clamps and no obvious place to park) I went inside to find out what we were expected to do with the car.
The lobby was huge and deserted with an escalator heading upward to "Reception" so off I went. Reception seemed to be miles away at the top of the escalator and adjoining an open plan bar area. I booked in and was given a voucher ...

Advantages: Right on the Airport doorstep and connected via walkways. Disadvantages: NOT cheap!
...Consider signing up for the Hilton Honors card before you go. Its free but will enable you to get to check in or out quicker than other people.
BOTTOM LINE: Good Point: You can walk to the airport in about 5 mins so NO fiddleing about with getting curtsey buses!
Bad Point: It'll cost a bit more than other hotels but the convenience of the location could well make up for it. ...

...husband stayed at the gatwick hilton last september ,the night before we flew out to another hilton in egypt .
normally when we have to fly from gatwick (about a 3 and a half hours drive from where we live) we drive down and fly out the same day but we'd got a bit fed up with doing this as it meant hanging around the airport for far too long.
this time when we looked at booking airport parking we decided it would be nice to stay overnight, the ... ...the staff make you feel special and the service was spot on and up to the usual high standard we have come to know from the hilton group throughout the world.

...you flights. Gatwick Hilton is by far one ofthe best airport hotels uin the UK. It has actually won many awards for its high level of services. if you are looking for a little luxury to begin or finish off your holiday it comes highly recomended from me.
