4 Stars Hilton Metropole Does The Business Review with images 23/01/2011

Advantages Advantages Great for conferences. Attentive and friendly service. Good value for money.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Size makes it a bit impersonal. Less than salubrious location. Lacking atmosphere.

HELLO HILTON The company I work for organises an annual Christmas Party which serves as the focal point of a two or three day off-site motivational event. Being a contingent of around 500 strong in our region, our little soiree was held at the Hilton London Metropole, a massive hotel located in the “cosmopolitan” surroundings of London’s Edgware Road. I was booked in for a three night stretch, during which I had ample opportunity to explore everything the hotel (and local area) had to offer. The hotel, which towers over the junction between the Westway (an extension of the A40) and Edgware ... more

Advantages Advantages Close to tube station, friendly staff, comfortable rooms

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would be quite pricey if you dont get a last minute deal

~~Location~~ The Metropole Hilton hotel is in an ideal location for both business and sightseeing. It is about a ten minute walk from Paddington station and fifteen minute walk from London city centre. However if your not up for walking everyday, it is two minutes away from Edgeware underground station. The hotel is located on the busy Edgeware road, however none of the noise can be heard within the hotel. ~~The Hotel~~ Our first impressions of this hotel were very good, we were greeted by a porter stood at the main doors who pointed us in the direction of the reception area. The reception ... more

    Advantages Advantages location

Disadvantages Disadvantages rooms in need of refurbishment plus the hotel seem to be unable to cope with the amount of guests

The Hilton Metropole is located just 2 minutes from Edgeware Road tube station and within 10 minutes walking distance of Oxford Street making it an ideal base to explore London. When we arrived, the lobby was very busy and had a feeling of disorganisation verging on chaos and certainly was not what I expected from a Hilton Hotel. The Costa Coffee Shop located in one half of the lobby by the lifts, gives you the impression of being in a shopping mall rather than a supposedly upmarket hotel. We had booked a deluxe room, however the room we were given on the 16th floor was small and tired looking ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comfort, helpful staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive food, checking out!

INTRODUCTION The Hilton London Metropole hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk down the Edgeware Road from Oxford Street. It is conveniently close to the Edgeware Road Tube Station and many bus links. Marylebone train station is about 20 minutes walk away, or 5 minutes on the bus. ENTRANCE The entrance of this Hilton hotel is beautifully classy. After you have walked through a dark marble exterior entrance, and crossed a small taxi bypass, you will be greeted by a helpful employee and you will step into the rotating entrance door. As you walk onto the marble flooring, you are met with a ... more

Advantages Advantages Good location, great staff, large room, clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would have been expensive it wasn't for Tesco vouchers

I have to say, after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor before my stay, I was half excited and half dreading what I would find at this hotel. Luckily, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised. We arrived at around 12 lunchtime and asked if we were too early to check in. The very friendly man on the reception desk told us that unfortunately there were no rooms in our room type available yet, but he showed us to where we could leave our bags. This was done without a problem. We then returned at about 4:30pm to check in where we were met by the same smiling man on reception who remembered us ... more

Advantages Advantages a large variety of destinations to choose from

Disadvantages Disadvantages get booked up quickly as so popular

Hilton hotels are fantastic. There's no one way to describe them as there are hundreds of them and all uniquely different. I first went to stay at one about 4 years ago. In 2000 i became an employee of Livingwell Health clubs - which is part of the the Hilton Group. I had never before even considered going to stay at a hilton hotel as i always thought they were much too expensive. But it was when i joined that i found out that some, yes, were a bit pricey, but that others were actually very reasonable. I did actually get a 15% discount because i was an employee, but i would have definately ... more

Advantages Advantages A really nice good quality hotel

Disadvantages Disadvantages Room could be updated a little

My boyfriend booked two nights in this hotel for me as a Christmas present. On arrival by tube it was very easy to find. The hotel is serviced by Edgware Road station on the Bakerloo, Distirct and Circle lines and so has excellent connections. It's impossible to miss the hotel on exiting the staion. Although we didn't use the buses there was a constant stream of them up and down Edgware Road. First impressions on walking into the hotel were brilliant. The reception and bar area were one massive space, all marble and luxury. The check-in service was excellent, and in spite of there being a ... more

Advantages Advantages Great place to stay.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slightly pricey, but still worth it.

I've stayed here a few times now, mainly to attend conventions the hotel has acted as host for. I found the rooms to be very comfortable whic afforded me the luxury of a good nights rest. Clean, tidy and roomy enough even for a large built guy like myself. The self serve breakfast was a little limited for choice, but very nicely cooked. What impressed me most of all was the constant flow of fresh orange juice and coffee which was brought to the table. Even though we were there as a couple, we each had a large coffee pot, which was replaced with a fresh one when it got low. It was also one of ... more
