Hotel Al Sole, Venice

We have just returned from our yearly visit to Venice (since 2002) and were very pleased with the Hotel we used on this occassion. As usual we looked at Hotelscomparison.com and thought this one looked good for the Price. Hotels own site is www.alsolehotels.com and their pictures are better than mine, they were also a true image of the rooms etc. This is sometimes not the case. I have just got back from a lovely weekend city break to Venice. I booked the holiday a week ago as a last minute deal as the flights to venice were only 99p on ryanair. We decided to book this hotel as we just came across it searching on the web. After we booked it we found a few pictures of the hotel and it looked like a lovely venetian style hotel with lots of character. However i looked at a few reviews on other website and they were not so good. We stayed here for 3 nights this summer. We had booked the hotel as part of a package with Inghams Lakes and Mountains. The hotel is ideally placed for the bus and train stations and access to the waterbus. Main train station and waterbus on the Grand Canal is only a leisurley 5 minute stroll. From here it is possible to get the water bus to the main attractions if Venice. A very pleasant way to travel. I would advise a three day pass if staying a few days as this works out much cheaper than paying for single journeys. There are pleasant walks with shops, cafes and restaurants near the hotel ... more
