Advantages: Very impressive stadium, state-of-the-art technology, good view of the action Disadvantages: Atmosphere not as intense as smaller, more partisan grounds
This, the home of soccer club Ajax Amsterdam, and occasionally hosting the Amsterdam Admirals' home games in NFL Europe, has a capacity of 50,820. It is quite an imposing sight - built on the outskirts of Amsterdam, it is visible from a great distance, over the flat green pastures that characterize the approaching land. To reach the stadium, it is advisable to get off at Duivendrecht train station. It is relatively simple to get a direct train from ... ...features is its retractable roof. This roof can prove very useful in wet weather, covering the pitch and keeping it safe from the rain. In total, the opening or closing of the roof takes about twenty minutes to accomplish. The lighting system is installed directly under the roof, removing the need for conventional floodlights. Say goodbye to restricted view seats! Every time I have visited the ArenA, I have sat in the lower section of the upper tier. ...

Advantages: Nice 'n' Cheap Disadvantages: Distance from centre
...enjoyed the comfort of a hotel room and Mummys seemingly bottomless purse when holidaying. Situated a fair distance from the city centre, the centre arguably being the immediate area surrounding Central Station, densely packed with bars, coffee houses and markets, Arena is served by a number of buses and trams running to and from the centre daily. Arriving at Central Sattion, we began hauling our ridiculously over-packed suitcases to the bus stops ... ...We had little problem finding the hostel itself, and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised at the buildings and its well-kept grounds. We had read that the building itself was once used as a convent, and upon entering, there was something slightly nunnish about it. Perhaps it was the stark white walls and high ceilings that reminded me of my old sports hall at school, but what we certainly didn't have there (and suspect the nuns wouldn't abide), ...

I have been round the world watching footbal but this stadium ranks up there with the best. I was in the Arena for two games, POrtugal-Turkey and Holland-Italy. For the minute you step off the metro and arrive from one of the car-parks the sheer size of the satdium hits you. The exterior of the stadium is highly impressive and whets the appetite of what is to come.
Once inside one is completely amazed by the sight which greets you. The crowd contol ... ...and toilets, not a problem in sight. If you are going to the stadium remeber to purchase an Arena Card so that you will be able to purchase refreshments.
I was in both Category 3 and Category 1 seats but it doesn't matter where you are you will have a perfect view of the pitch. The retractable roof is another unique feature which will add to the fans experience ...

Advantages: Stylish decor, pretty building Disadvantages: Location
...light so I called the hotel the day before we arrived, asking if they had hairdryers in ALL the rooms. I was told they did. When we arrived, there was no hairdryer in our room. I went to the reception where I was told they rent them out. I tried to rent one but was told that as it was so busy, they had none left. Admittedly, this didn't put me in the best of moods at the start of our stay but as we had paid a LOT more than we usually would for a ... ...give the hotel a chance. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype from its website. The website leads you to expect a very trendy, buzzing, vibrant kind of place but I didn't find this to be the case. I kind of got the impression that the choice of a minimalist feel for the rooms was an excuse not to have to buy any furniture! The staff who served breakfast were lovely, but the receptionists were very cold and generally gave the impression they ...

Advantages: Cheap, well appointed Disadvantages: None!
Hotel Arena is in Oosterpark just about 15 minutes by tram or tube from central station. It is largely used by students, backpackers, but people of all ages stay. There is the choice of hostel or hotel accommodation. The hostel accommadation is in well appointed dorms which are basic but cheap.
The hotel rooms are also basic, but are all en-suite and have a satellite TV. The rates are low and there are always other people around to talk to. There ...

Advantages: Fantastic playing surface Disadvantages:
I saw the game between Holland and Czech Republic the other night, and the stadium they played in was absolutly amazing. The Amsterdam Arena, in my opinion is one of the greatest stadiums in the world, the playing service is perfect and the facilities in and out of the ground are spectacular. I believe that this is a very suitable venue for the European Championships and I am suprised that this was not chosen to be the venue for the final, all I ...
