Advantages: Close to airport, free shuttle bus service, great breakfast buffet, Disadvantages: Poor food, unhelpful staff
This is a hotel that I frequently stayed in whilst flying, I sometimes felt that half of my life was spent here and this review documents my experiences.
About the hotel:
The Auditorium Madrid Hotel is the largest hotel in Europe (apparently) and is located a 10 minute car ride from the Airport There are 870 bedrooms across four floors, two bars, a restaurant, haute cuisine restaurant, a gym and beauty centre, swimming pool, 45 meeting rooms, guest ... ...location.
Getting there:
The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle mini bus service from the airport. It is infrequent and many a night I have stood with my crew in the pouring rain/cold waiting for it! First impressions:
The main foyer is very grand, marble floor, antique furniture, potted palms and a grand piano. As you enter the lobby bar is on the right. There is also an ATM.

Advantages: reasonably-priced rooms, clean modern facilities, near airport Disadvantages: no easy access to city centre

Near the hotel there is nothing much you can walk to except a few bars and very local menu del dia cafes beloved of local lorry drivers - one three star hotel nearby with a reasonable but overpriced restaurant (nice terrace) and a nice trade in ladies of the night! It is right on the motorway - hence convenient for the airport.

It is apparently the largest hotel in Europe and is MASSIVE. So if you want anonymity - perfect! It ... ...car in the lobby! The hotel bars are not local prices (i.e. not dirt cheap) but on a par with UK drinks prices. They will serve you spirits until you say "when" though, rather than in piddly little UK measures so it's still good value. If you are a night owl be warned though - the hotel bar closes around 2am and there is no 24 access for residents so you might have to resort to your limited minibar.
