Advantages: Cheap, lovely roof terrace, helpful staff, good facilities Disadvantages: Not so close to Rome's attractions
I stayed at this hotel in February 2007 having had to hastily rebook somewhere after BA cancelled flights at the end of January.
I had read a few things about the hotel on the tripadvisor website (excellent source for hotel information) and having weighed up the positive and negative comments I decided to go with it. We ended up paying about 45 Euros between us a night for a standard double - very reasonable in Rome.
Lets start with the location. ... ...by all accounts. This hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the Terminii but in fairness we did not come across any problems at all and in the end it was a blessing to be so close as our coach transfer was to and from the terminii.
From the outside it looks like your standard continental city hotel - nothing special. The reception (open 24 hours) was relatively clean with a nice marble finish and we were seen quicky and the check in was very easy. ...

The hotel is quite a way from most tourist attractions. I will firstly say that my party consisted of myself and a friend, both 18 year-old males, and we walked everywhere. In addition to this we visited in late august while the weather was still very hot. The following are therefore walking times based on my fitness, in hot weather, with lots of iced mineral water (something Rome's street vendors do to perfection!).
The Vatican ... ...the north west of the hotel you will come across an ornate square full of restaurants and shops. Another 5 minutes will take you to a second-hand street market. In other words, by staying at the Palladium Palace, you are placing Rome between your base and the tourist attractions On the way I guarantee that you will stumble across a multitude of hidden piazzas (squares) and countless street cafes.
