Advantages: I live here
Disadvantages: none

...a friend | Help Huddersfield - the name says it all really! Visions of a dark satanic mill town in the middle of no where spring to mind! For years this was my impression of my adopted home town. My only experience of Huddersfield was on the train journey home to Hull from Manchester. One minute you are way up on the bleak moor land then suddenly you are in Huddersfield railway station. The view from the railway station comfirms your thoughts of ...
...not like living here in Huddersfield - you'd actually be further from the truth its a great little town! After several years of sitting on a train and feeling incredibly sorry for the mates I had, who actually lived here I got off the train and feel in love with the place and the chap who was to become known as Himdownstairs! Now your probably thinking ok where is the place, before you start loking it up on a map I'll tell you! Huddersfield is about ...

JUST A SMALL TOWN IN YORKSHIRE

Advantages: Loads of pubs
Disadvantages: A bit dreary, not that much of interest

...Nottingham Forest supporters that described Huddersfield perfectly – “Your just a small town in Yorkshire”. Hence the title. This was the one and only occasion I bothered to go and watch Huddersfield Town play (lol). Many of their players train on the grounds of the University Halls I lived in, so I thought I might see for myself if they are as bad as people make out. There relegation to Division 2 says it all! As you may already ...
...LOCATION You will find Huddersfield located close to the M62 and M1, around 25 – 30 miles North of Sheffield, but just under 20 miles South of Leeds. The town is also well served by the Trans-Pennine Express rail service, which connects it with Manchester (30 minutes) and Leeds about 20minutes away. The service runs approximately every 20 minutes in either direction. HISTORY The origin of Huddersfield can be traced back to Castle Hill, where ...

This is a guide to restaurants in huddersfield

Advantages: range of restaurants, decent prices
Disadvantages: there are only so many to visit

...variety of foods available in Huddersfield yet is often hard to know where to go, in this review I will be giving you my opinion on the selection of restaurants I have recently dined in and hopefully giving you a helpful insight into the social side of Huddersfield town. Along Viaduct street, not far from the train station, is a selection of restaurant, all offering different foods from around the world. Here you will find Cibo and Gringos, both ...
...both and was most impressed with Cibos. This small restaurant offers italian food and houses a modern, hip and simplistic decor that makes you feel comfortable. The use of bare brick along with the warm red tones and blue lights give a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and the prices are bearable. For example, a regular margharita pizza would cost £7.50, however you certainly pay for quality and it proves worth it. For a pizza ...

The UKs largest Town

Advantages: Pubs, bars, clubs, curry, friendly crowds...
Disadvantages: A bit cold at times, too near Bradford!!!

...Kent (England's so-called "Garden") to Huddersfield in West Yorkshire... So many people are too quick to judge the North by it's poor weather, strange-sounding locals and the 'lack of jobs'...You must've heard the phrase "It's grim up north".... Just to dispel all those misconceptions, here is an opinion from a lad who has decided to set up camp in Huddersfield after living 19 years as a Suverna! Huddersfield is the perfect 'city' without actually ...
...well as a cathedral...and although Huddersfield is slightly lacking in the Cathedral department, it makes up for it with great bars, curry houses, a handful of select clubs (meeting any taste), a soon-to-open shopping centre and one of the friendliest groups of locals you are ever likely to meet in such a large place. Don't get me wrong...I can appreciate that large doesn't mean great...in fact, Manchester, London, Leeds....all too big, with big ...

EE BY GUM!

Advantages: Constantly developing
Disadvantages: Northern!

...old and aesthetically pleasing building. Huddersfield has some great old architecture going on, aswell as plenty of new developments, its turning into a mini leeds. Over the past 3 years or so, one end of the town centre has been completely redeveloped from derelict buildings into bars, nail bars, a shopping centre and a couple of posh little shops including a fantastic little lingerie boutique called Bare that all women MUST visit. Huddersfield ...
...at night, everything stops, if Huddersfield was a 24hr town it would be fantastic. If you were coming to Huddersfield for a mini break, i would advise you to stay in the George Hotel, eat at Gringo's and Lounge68 (a new and very posh restaurant that is a favourite with Nell Mcandrew and the cast of Footballers Wives) drink at Lloyds and USB, and go clubbing at the Camel Club, a morroccan themed club which i just fabulous. And for shopping...go to ...

Huddersfield for shopping and friendly people

Advantages: Great Library, accessibile shops
Disadvantages: poor market

Huddersfield is a small town in West Yorkshire. The locals are really friendly and make you feel very welcome. There's plenty of the named stores as well as local ones too!! The Rugby League team "Huddersfield Giants" play at the Mc Alpine Stadium, off Leeds Road. This is one of the most modern stadia in the north of England and is only ten minutes walk from the town centre. I have to say though that the indoor market in the town centre is pretty ...
...across from the market and occupies three floors in a rather grand old building. Definately one of the best libraries in the Yorkshire area I'd say. In summary a town where nothing much happens out of the ordinary but there is nothing wrong with Huddersfield it's just not exciting!!! ...

Probably the most average town in Britain

Advantages: Friendly and an ideal size
Disadvantages: A wee bit dreary

I have lived in Huddersfield for 18 years, from birth to leaving for University. The only word which i seem to be able to conjure up for Huddersfield is average. I have been to better places, and similarly i have been to worse. Huddersfield has a large number and wide variety of pubs and club, none of which are remarkably good. A much better night out can be found in Leeds, which is less than 1/2 hour away by trains(which are regular and run through ...
...might not be the warmest place in Britain but it gets a lot colder in Scotland and the South isn't exactly tropical is it? Basically Huddersfield is a large friendly town, which might not have everything but benefits from being placed so close to Leeds, Bradford, York and Manchester. ...

Another grey grey place to be

Advantages: extensive high street shops, good facilties, easy access
Disadvantages: its all just so GREY!

...that reminded me of it. Huddersfield is one such place. Like Bradford,it has a large dull-looking university, a well-equipped town centre that still couldnt shake its dullness!! Easily accesible on the train via Leeds or Sheffield, a bus station somewhere and lots and lots of motorways connecting it to anywhere round and abouts, its still one of the most grey towns. Im sorry I dont mean to offend, Im giving my opinion here and the opinion I had of ...
...with the late Bill Owen, played on that grey Yorkshire image a bit, and kind of encouraged it! (The town where that show is filmed, Holmfirth, is in Huddersfield somewhere.) Huddersfield is just one of those towns I took an instant dislike to, Im sure evreyone has had that experience. ...
