Iberostar Bouganville Playa, Tenerife

Spring 2004 my boyfriend and I were deciding where we would like to go for out summer holiday, and after a bit of research into what various places had to offer, we decided to go to Tenerife. We didn't really want to go to Playa De Las Americas, as I've heard that it's a clubbers paradise (not really for me anymore) and my boyfriend had been before and wasn't too keen on it himself. My wife and I stayed for 7 nights from the 14th August to the 21st 2007 and found the hotel was excellent. On arriving at reception a glass of champagne was brought out for us to drink whilst we checked in. The reception staff were very friendly and provided information on the local facilities and trips on the island. I have read in other reviews that the room facilities are dated, yes they are. But if an odd chip in the bath enamel or some of the chrome rubbed off the taps is sufficient to give cause for complaint don't go to this hotel. We stayed here March 2008. (Booked hotel through Thomsons and flight with Ryanair) Fab, friendly hotel. We didn't think it was particularly attractive from outside but once inside it was lovely. Maybe rooms a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Its in a central position without being noisy and loud. Bars and restaurants over the road and its a nice walk into the livelier area. Food was best we've had on a package holiday. The choice and quality was exceptional - anyone who moans must be particularly 'picky'! Not much contact with reception etc so can't really comment on them but other staff ... more

I think this was an excellent hotel in the most perfect location !! Wonderfull staff and with cuisine The best is ever so long here and Elizabeth Taylors house is within walkin distance to go to view, although you can only look in as security gates surround it. But its very worth a dtroll to view as it is situated on the side of a cliff facing over the wonderful views of a stretch of the beach. Some areas of the beach have no sand as this is a volcanic island, but this is not a disadvantage at all.
