Advantages: Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great food Disadvantages: Horrendous bar prices
I stay at the IBIS Earls court about 4 or 5 times a year as i occasionally work in London. It is a big, grey building and maybe does not look that appealing from the ouside, but read on and i will explain why it is well worth staying at, whether you are in London for business or pleasure...
The exterior
As i mentioned, the IBIS is a little drab looking on the outside. The grey building would not appear to appealing on a rainy January day. There ... ...you when you enter the IBIS is the large chandelier in the lobby, it really is impressive but does not make you feel out of place if you have just arrived in your jeans. There is a seating area in the middle, with newspapers and information on attractions in the local area. The couches are comfortable but you will be lucky if you get one as they are usually all taken. There is a small bar to the right which serves botled beers, wine, juices and tea ...

Advantages: price, modern bathroom Disadvantages: general state of repair and cleanliness, staff language barriers
...you first get to the Ibis you are presented with an oppressing concrete box (although it was raining which didn't help its image...). You head across the rather tired looking foyer to a desk manned by (on our visit) staff who's English wasn't the best. After 25 minutes watching the receptionist look rather confused, tutting and asking us the same questions repeatedly (the lady had apparently no idea how to process booking which had been done through ... ...up to our room via a rickety lift. The corridors reminded me of an old school; in a bad state of repair, threadbare carpet and a funny smell. The room itself wasn't at all bad, quite modern fixtures, in a good state of repair, the bathroom and majority of the living space was clean. The only issue we had was some suspicious looking hairs and stains on the bed. Due to it only being a quick visit we did not try the food, so I cannot comment on that. ...

...choosing to stay at the Ibis in Docklands Excel in London. Its definately not an experience I would like to repeat. We choose the hotel for the price, located on the Docklands Light Railway line we thought it was a bargin, but what a mistake. The food served, evening meal and breakfast is without a doubt some of the worst I have eaten. The choice was poor and the food selected was tasteless. The room was okay, but it was impossible to sleep through ... ...off, I have stayed in Ibis hotels in France and they seemed much better quality, but I won't be returning to the one in docklands.i like to repeat.
