...select somewhere of reasonable price. Ibis seemed to fit that bill - It was £47 a night with continental breakfast being £5.50. I booked in for a 3 night stay.
From the outside it just seems to be a standard chain hotel, nothing spectacular. Expectation was that it would be fairly minimalist but clean and friendly.
The guy at check in was very friendly and helped me register my details - he was consciencious and helpful. A credit to the company.

I entered the room and all seemed fine until I looked in the bathroom which to my utter disbelief was dirty: The bath/shower had what looked like mud on the bottom of it and the toilet lookd like it needed a good clean too. Advantages: Cheap, good location Disadvantages: No free parking, poor service
...and I stayed in the IBIS hotel in Stevenage town centre for one night in June.
***Getting to the hotel
The location was in a convenient location for us as we wanted to stay in that area as we were visiting relatives, and we thought £35 for both of us for one night was a pretty good deal.
The map and directions to the hotel provided on IBIS Stevenage's own website (http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/gb/ibi/2794/fiche_hotel.shtml) were not ... ...month after our visit to IBIS Stevenage, I received my credit card bill. To my annoyance, I noticed that two separate payments of £35 had been taken by IBIS. I have contacted the hotel who say that there is only one payment on their records, but they will sort it out if I fax them a copy of my credit card bill. I expect that they will refund me, but it has just been hassle that I could do without!
