Advantages: Superb services and veiws over Torbay Disadvantages: Food is pretty poor for a 5 star hotel
...main draw was the wonderful Imperial hotel just on the outskirts of Torquay.
The hotel is something special, there are so many good points but one glaring bad point!
Firstly the location is spectacular, with an unenvied look out over the Torbay area the sea facing rooms are well worth the supplement payable when booking. The premium rooms are large and well appointed. I would ask for one in the main hotel as some rooms have access only through ... ...tacky in parts but the Imperial is a lovely oasis of 5 star opulence.
Thank-you for the staff who were attentive and excellent and not pompous or aloof such as are found at some other 5 star establishments that we have stayed at previously.
Next time in Torquay I would thouroughly recommend staying B&B in a premium sea facing room for a few days, you wont regret it, and dine downtown in the evening! ...

...pleasure of staying at the Imperial for a couple of nights for a residential conference. The Imperial is part of the paramount chain, there are frequently special offers on their website www.paramount-hotels.co.uk. The usual discounter (laterooms, discount city hotels etc) can sometimes do deals on room rates. The rate I paid was a conference rate of about £50 per night but at the moment the Paramount website has Room only at £69, DBB at £143 per ... ...makes up for it). The Imperial is a purpose built hotel so the rooms are purpose built. The furnishings are extremely good quality. The bathrooms are large and well equipped. The whole hotel, from public rooms to bedrooms is impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean.
The Food - Breakfast was outstanding, a hot and cold buffet. Plentiful, good qualitty, well prepared ingredients. The other meals were part of the conference package and were of a ...
