We spent our honeymoon here and it is simply the most magical place on earth!!
We stayed in a romantic cottage made for two and just walked and gasped for the whole week!
There are mountains, waterfalls, sheep (quite a few of these and they roam free so be careful!!), views, views, views and more views.
There are midges too, so bring protection!!
We spent time at Portree, the main town in Skye, which has everything you‘ll need.
The best part ...

Advantages: beautiful scenery, peaceful, silent Disadvantages: Very dependent on the season and the weather. And the weather is often fickle with tourists.
The Isle of Skye is probably the most famous tourist spot to be visited in Glasgow. On a good day, it boasts a great view of Uilean castle - I think it's Uilean castle - and of the surrounding countryside. However, as one knows british weather, it's apt to many changes in a day. More so Scotland. On the way to Skye, it's about 9 hours journey by car from Glasgow. Also, the toll bridge leading to Skye is also the most expensive one in the world. Arguably, ... ...3 pounds per head to cross the bridge. And this toll bridge is only open during certain times of the year. Spring to Autumn, I believe. And as told to me by my many friends who've been to Skye - Too misty, I can't see anything. Or where's the sun?? I don't see any sunlight!!! Or, it rained the whole 2 days!!! What sort of famous vacation spot is this??? Ah yes, like I said, the famous scottish weather and wind will get you down. But it's all worth ...

Advantages: beautiful, people are amazing Disadvantages: weather is unpredictable
"Eilean a' Cheò - The Misty Isle" is one place that everyone should visit.
Skye is absolutly stunning!
It has the most amazing scenery and the people are amongst the friendliest I have ever met.
It really is Scotland in minature, for a small island it is amazing how many different things there are to see and do.
We went for Hogmany and stayed in a beautiful thatched cottage, it was just perfect.
From the capital Portree to the beautiful Cullin ... ...From otter sanctuary's to ferry trips, from hill climbing to wildlife spotting there is something for all the family.
We took our 11 year old son and even he was not bored (and you know what that age can be like, if it isnt electronic they dont want to know). ...

Advantages: Beautiful Scenery Disadvantages: Too many to mention here!
I'm sure this may upset people from Skye, but I really didn't like it. I had been wanting to visit for nearly 30 years and I was so disappointed. I had heard for years that it was a beautiful place but I couldn't see it the fog didn't lift for 2 days and the island seemed to be full. Everything was so expensive and the people in shops, and restaurants seemed to resent tourists being there. I have worked in the tourist industry all my life so I try ... ...can be when trying to close up somebody comes it with a £50 note to buy a box of fudge! There wasn't any room to move, or breathe. The guesthouse owner we booked with didn't have the manners to be in or answer the phone during the 10 hours we were trying to contact her and we found ourselves without accomodation, nearly 700 miles from home. I was really scary because nowhere else had room. We slept in the car on the first night, which isn't easy ...
