Situated on a peninsula reaching out into Loch Leven, this peaceful, relaxing retreat has breathtaking views across the tranquil waters to the impressive mountains of the West Highlands.
Advantages: Beautiful setting, lovely views and great food! Disadvantages: Hard to reach in bad weather and midges in summer!

The Isles of Glencoe hotel is part of a group of four called the Freedom Glen hotels. It is possible to "Dine Around" at one of the others with a charge at the Lodge on the Loch of an extra £10 per couple, but no extra at the Ballachulish or the Oban Caledonian. We didn't try this out but it seemed a good idea if you were staying longer. Some of the staff were from overseas but all spoke English, and some could converse in other ... ...£5 off your next stay. We'd love to go back perhaps later in the year when the leaves are turning so perhaps next year we'll manage a few more days relaxing in the beautiful setting of the Isles of Glencoe.

Advantages: Beautiful scenery and lots to do Disadvantages: Expensive
I visited the Isles of Glencoe Hotel in April 2008 with my partner. It was a last minute decision to book a long weekend away to Scotland, and it was by far the best choice we could have made.
The views on the drive up to the hotel from Glasgow airport were amazing, and once at the hotel, the scenery was absolutely breath taking. It couldn't have been situated in nicer surroundings.
There was plenty to do surrounding the hotel, whether it be outside ... ...hotel grounds were also ample, having a swimming pool and sauna provided, as well as outdoor activities on the the loch. There were also many walks and climbs just outside the main entrance. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious, however the service could be quite solw. This was not really a problem as it was such a relaxing break that it was quite nice to sit and chill out in the restaurant. Drinks were also ...
