Food on KLM long-haul is in very short supply - at least in economy class! The worst is their morning departures from Asia. They serve a very basic breakfast, then decide its night-time in Amsterdam and dim the lights and close the windows. The idea is that passengers whose body clock is on 11am will go to sleep. It also means they don't have to serve another meal for 8 hours. And then its sparse in the extreme. It is not possible for budget passengers ...

...spent 9 hours on a KLM jumbo flying from Amsterdam to Aruba and it's an experience I would not like to repeat. The seat pitch is a measly 31" which even for a stumpy legged girl of 5ft 5" is not much. There are no personal TV screens in the back of the seat in front and the seats do not have adjustable headrests or foot stands. About the drinks and food I would say that they are good but the service is slow. The seats comfortable when you sit, but they are quite basic for sleeping. I recently flew KLM from London to Amsterdam, a one hour flight. The plane was clean and there was more legroom than most other short hop planes (which is important as I'm 6'2"). The staff were friendly and helpful and in general everything went smoothly. The only problem is they don't seem to serve food, so you have to buy it separately! I've only flown with KLM 4 times total, so perhaps my sample size is not very large, but most other airlines ...

I flew with KLM from Texas to Holland in September 2003. Their planes are very comfortable, clean, and up-to-date. The ticket prices are great. You get plenty to eat and drink and the meals are actually tolerable! The leg room isn't the greatest, but you can survive.There is one problem, however. In my opinion, KLM aren't the most luxurious carrier in the world. They're certainly not at the same standard of Emirates or Jet Airways, but for the price you pay, I feel you get a great amount.
