Advantages: Beautiful and relaxing Disadvantages: Not for people who want an active night life.
==KALAMI==
== CORFU==
Corfu is the second largest of the Ionian Islands and lies off the coast of Albania. The capital of Corfu is orfu Town (Kérkyra in Greek) and it was to Kérkyra airport that we flew in to start a fantastic two week holiday in the beautiful little village of Kalami. Corfu had ben somewhere I had wanted to visit since - at the age of thirteen - I had first read 'My Family and Other Animals' by Gerald Durell. The book somehow ... ...Durrell wrote of, but it took me almost fourty years to make my first trip to that little gem of an island. ===Journey From the Airport===
Driving from the airport through the outskirts of Corfu Town I began to wonder if this island was going to be everthing that I had dreamed about. Shabby buildings and half built houses seemed to be the only scenery in sight. The hour long journey to our destination soon left behind the urban outskirts and we ...

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful. Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"
...this beautiful little town called Kalami, and when my mum found there was an apartement where Gerald Durrell had stayed when he was writing his book, she booked it straight away. And so off we went. We flew from Manchester airport with MyTravel, the flight took around 3 hours and so we had a film on and got a meal on the flight so the time went very quickly. Upon arriving in Corfu, the heat hit us as soon as we stepped off the plane, it was the first ... ...cares.....! Back in Kalami, its the prefect relaxation spot, there are pools which you are welcome to use, and also the sea is literally a 2-5 minute walk from every apartment in Kalami. The beach isn't sand, but a pebbled beach, so you will need something like jelly shoes for in the sea!! One thing I will say is there is pretty much no nightlife, no clubs in sight, you will have to go to Sidari and the likes for that, but that means the place is ...

Advantages: Friendly people, great food. Disadvantages: Tortuous roads. Pity about their red wine.
Apologies to those of you who may have read this article elsewhere - it is lodged in the wrong location (New Corfu - a restaurant in Cardiff, would you believe). I've asked Ciao to move it on two occasions but something must have been lost in the translation. Thank god for cut and paste. Postcards always seem to offer a view of the world which never quite touches reality. At least that was my opinion before going to Kalami. After that I changed my ... ...breathtaking. The bay swept in a crescent around perfect deep blue water, with a sweep of olive trees as a backdrop. In the hazy distance lay Corfu town. Absolutely magical.
The apartments (all exclusive to Thompsons, I believe) are about fifty yards from the beach which is adjacent to a row of shops and tavernas. The only disadvantage is that the topmost apartments are about the same distance from the ground. Help is at hand though - there are ...
