Advantages: Delightful, very friendly, family run site in a beautiful location. Disadvantages: None.
...in our motorhome on Karrageen Holiday Park,Bolberry, near Kingsbridge,South Devon.
It is often said that first impressions count. We had great expectations after having received their brochure. This was of a very high standard, including several colour photographs of the site and the surrounding area, with plenty of detailed information.
The site is owned and entirely run by Phil and his wife Nikki, with additional help from their three teenage children,Natalie,Ryan ... ...the start.
Phil welcomed us personally, and led us to a choice of 2 pitches he had reserved for us.As I have walking difficulties, the first pitch was, thoughtfully,in the small field, close to the toilet, shower and laundry block. However,we chose the alternative, which was in the next field, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and over Hope Cove to the sea,1 mile away. This field is divided by mature hedges for privacy, and there are numerous ...

Advantages: Close to the coast. Disadvantages: Quite a few - please read review!
We visited this park in August 2004. There were 2 of us adults 1 baby and 2 kids aged 6 and 9.
First impressions of the site were that it was very pleasant. Phil was friendly, and the field we were in had beautiful views of the sea just 1 mile away. Then we made the grim discovery of the toilet block. Apart from it being a quarter of a mile treck away in ankle high mud (the owners were too tight to put the gravel down on the driveway , even though ... ...over) the toilets also smelt disgusting and most of the seats were broken. The showers cost 20p for 2 minutes worth of hot water, so unless you was the manager of the bank of 20p's you had an ice cold shower. Everyone was complaining about the charges for hot water, i even met someone whilst out walking one day who actually told me he stopped using this campsite this year because although he had been many times before he was sick of having to pay ...

Advantages: a quite family site, well stocked shop, good facilities, and wonderful views Disadvantages: have to boook early as the site is in demand!
I stayed at Karrageen Camping site for one week in August with my partner and our two children, aged 9 and 5. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful teenager who was willing to show us the area on a photographic map, and then escort us down to our pitch and direct us to the facilities. Our first impressions were of pure delight and relaxation. The site was quiet, the facilities were clean and the site had lots of space for ... ...made new friends!. At night groups of children team together and play all types of games, which sometimes include us as parents, but its all in the name of fun!
We found the camp shop on site to be very useful with a very good take-away service. Reasonably priced, good, home- cooked food which we enjoyed a great deal and it saved the hassle of washing up! The food was varied - Indian, Lasagne, fish and chips and various puddings! great for the kids ...

Advantages: Excelent location Disadvantages: Dirty toilet blocks /showers don't work
The website looked great and Phil sounded very helpful on the phone.
Unfortunately we had a noisyy group of youths camped next to us who returned to their tents at midnight and continued to make a noise until 2 or 3 a.m every night. Our complaints were ntot dealt with and eventually I got the impresion our comments were not welcome.
The toilet block was very dirty and smelly.
Over the whole week I failed to have one hot shower despite repeatedly ... ...was not alone. The helpful comment form Phil was " How many time do I have to tell you- its not the showers its the people using them!"
I found his daughters and wifes attitude to us one of sufferance. they ceratinyl did not show us any form of hospitality depsite the fact that we were paying gurests.
The fact that we had spent the last 10 years at another local site that had colsed due to retirement seem to irk them.
I now realise what a dream ...
