Kavos (Greece)

We only stayed for one week, but it is one week that I shall remember for the rest of my life. Before leaving I wasn't expecting too much, too be honest from all the uncovered programs that I had seen; where the rooms looked cramped and the reps where customer servies assistants from hell, I was kind of expecting to arrive holding my breath, going crazy without paying too much attension (!) then finally relaxing once I got home. ...a while, 2 hours to be precise, from the airport to the hotel. Much to the boys morbid pleasure, we passed a car wreck on the way to the resort, but overall it went quite quickly. The town was dead when we arrived.. at about 4 o'clock in the morning (it was cheaper that way!), so heading up to our rooms to get some sleep was welcomed. ...to write about it. Kavos is a small town situated at the bottom of the Greek Island of Corfu, the island is just a few miles off the coast of mainland Greece. ...park to get away from Kavos and it was a great day out. Brilliant value for money because there was plenty to do. On the bus journey we saw more remote areas which looked really nice and wished we'd gone to them instead. I go out a lot in Britain, and I enjoy nightlife, but Kavos was really geared to the 18 year old lads who were too drunk to notice they had no hot water, and probably the people who smashed bottles on the beach! When I first arrived in Kavos i was actually quite horrified at what i saw. Kind of resembling a shanty town in Greece it is not a picturesque town and i would never pretend to anyone that it was. When we arrived at the appartments they were a hideous pink but inside i have to admit they were clean and spacious. The Bathroon left alot to be desired and consisted of a loo and shower tray with a shower head. Not exactly bursting with modern amenities ...
...The night life is what Kavos is all about. The whole road lights up and the amount of neon in that street is quite amazing. We went with sunshine holidays and they offer all kinds of bar crawls and trips it is a great way to meet people. You pay about £10 for a barcrawl and you gets shots in all the bars, free entry to the clubs and a cheesy t-shirt to show your freinds when you get home!! ...at was just out of Kavos town, so it was to chill out during the day and a ten minute walk, you were in the main town. The area is a little run down, but its developing, so if you go there with the attitude that its going to be like Ibiza, you will get a shock. Its a good place for your first holiday away from your parents and with your mates. Its not clean, but thats because (now for the disguting bit), a little thing called the Kavos blow back. ...
...down the toilet and as the pipes are to small to take it, it floods most of the area near you. Thats why you have put your toilet roll in the bins, but these were changed every day. I went to Kavos last summer (2003) for my first ever girly holiday and I am so glad I did! i thought it was excellent, a really good location for groups of young people as the resort is lively and attractive. Sorry guys, the boys do outnumber the ladies out there (luckily!) therefore its about 3 lads to every lass! The resort itself is quite cheap, as we are used to English prices. There are drinks promotions in every bar which make the nightlife ...
...places to eat out as Kavos caters for all tastes with the obligatory McDonalds, KFC and Burger King food chains as well as more international tastes such as: *Chinese *English *Italian *Mexican *American *French The same choice as you'd have in England really! ...and my friend went to Kavos i was very nervous as i had never been on a 2wentys holiday before although i had an idea what to expect it wasnt like that at all. Anything goes in Kavos and if you just mingle and go with the flow you will have the holiday of a lifetime! I literally arrived back yesterday morning 09/06/07 which meant we went for the early season and it was just getting busier as we were leaving but this didn't spoil our holiday. Me and ...
...the first night but the reps soon got me a room of my own for free for the rest of the holiday and they really look after you (my friend and i made up the day after). The food and the cigarettes are really cheap (about £10 for a 3 course meal with a drink and about £1.75 for 20 cigarettes) but the drinks are about £2 each depending on what your fave tipple is so not that cheap but you do get offers. 1st disappointment was realising that we got stiched up big time with our package paid way more than anyone else we met. The accomodation was a major shock to the system. Tiny basic room and the worse sanitation system I have every encountered in my life (you can't flush toilet paper down the loo)... you'd be better off using the bushes...be warned! most PR's r very annoying but some were a good laugh once u got 2 know them. Shop around for deals ...
...u say yes to the 1st people that ask u even if they seem genuine and friendly... everything is within walking distance, but the beach is an absolute dump. You have to pay for everything even to sit on a lounger on the beach & the pool side of ur accomadation..(we did!!) the food wasn't bad in most places, the weather was quite good a little chilly at night (mid June) mosquitos r a nightmare, bring all meds with u as the nearest chemist is miles away. ...

Had a brilliant time there, it was one of the best hols ever had. Went with 4 friends. All in 20's, I wouldnt recommend to go if you are bothered by being surrounded by lots of mad teenagers, there are alot there the average age group probably from 16 - 26 ish But it was fab, lots and lots of bars one after the other and clubs were great. A must see is Limelight, Im not a real clubbing person, I prefer the bars/pubs, but this was a brill ...
...a bit of a musty smell around, most greek places do have "that smell" but this was a little worse - not so bad it would put me off going again though. And the PR's are very annoying too many of them and always at you to go in their bars, as is everywhere now! Drinks fair to medium it was cheap in some places, expensive in other bars, so get tanked up first on the cheap vodka from the supermarket, then u cant lose! Going back this year in ...
