    I have finally recovered enough from my heartbreak upon leaving Kos almost 5 weeks ago now (a blow slightly lessened by the fact my boyfriend’s taking me to Majorca in just over a week!) to be able to write (or boast) about how beautiful it was and how it’s such a great holiday location.     Kos is a Greek island in the Dodecanese, next to the Gulf of Kos which with a population of roughly 22,000. The island was once ruled by the Venetian and this is evident in many of the Kos Town buildings. Kos Town is a marvelous mix of history, nightlife and culture and is an excellent location for a bit of island hopping. It really does have it all! Some of the best service I have ever had in restaurants has been in Kos, it's the only place I have ever had a tip refused because I tipped the night before (we made sure we left it anyway!)     This review is only information I have from my recent holiday in Greece, Kos. Returning back from Kos, a few weeks ago was heartbreaking! I only wish now, that I had never come home. I stayed in the Imperial hotel in Kos town for 2 weeks with Thomas Cook. Only 2 minute walk from all the restaurants and bars! I shall start by telling you about my thoughts on the Imperial Hotel. Arriving at the hotel, my friend and I thought we could not have come to a worse place.     I must say I have read this review on Kefalas and thought that I had been to a different place altogether this year. Robert and I traveled to Kos September 07 and only came back Oct 07. As we stayed in Kefalos at the Pantheon just along from the big Club Med, (well up the hill from there). We had wonderful views over the whole of the bay and out over to Nysros and 4 other islands. The sea was so blue for the whole of the 2 weeks and the sky was even bluer. The sun shone from morning till night and as we were lucky enough to have the full moon in the evening it was magical.     In early 2007 I began looking for a holiday as a few friends (all students aged 18-19) and I had decided we wanted to get away for a while. The usual 'young persons drinking holidays' came up, such as Zante, Magaluf, and Faliraki, but the thought of going to a really rowdy place like Faliraki turned my stomach!     Before you book a holiday to somewhere you have never been before, there are a few things pretty much everyone wants to know. Is it expensive? Is it value for money? Is it a quiet resort or an active resort? What's the nightlife like? What are the best days out? What is there to do?     I'm back for a second attempt at holiday writing ~ this one has been harder because this holiday seems like so long ago! We visited Kos in May 2001. The holiday was for a week only ~ but we were excited because it was my first time abroad, and one of the first for my parents. Because we were only there for a week, we probably didn't get around as much as we would have liked (hence my 'Places to Visit' section being quite short), but we did see enough to get a general impression on the island as a whole.     Disadvantages Disadvantages watch you don't burn, the wind is deceptive: use you sun cream more often. IT IS HOT in KOS

    Did I say breeze? Do you know, I didn’t realize how strong the wind would be – you know, the wind that blows throughout the summer months amongst the islands of the Dodecanese. As I write, I am sat out on the balcony of my apartment on the island of Kos. We have just berthed in the harbor at Kardamena and, today the wind is blowing fierce and strong. Unbelievably, fierce as the wind is, it caresses the skin like velvet – despite its power!     I’d never been to any of the Greek Islands before we visited Kos three years ago. We stayed in Kardamena, a small resort – a former quiet fishing port, but it has been transformed in recent years into a fairly lively place with good nightlife and a fantastic beach. Usually when we go away on holiday, I want to relax, with this is just the place to do that. During the day it’s laid back, certainly not too crowded.     Well, I have just returned from the Greek Island of Kos yesterday. It was the first time that myself, my boyfriend and two other friends had ever been to any of the Greek Islands. All new to us.... We flew from London Gatwick to Kos and stayed in the resort of Kardamena with Kosmar. We stayed in the Tonys 2 apartments and studios which were in a good location just a few minutes walk away from the town centre, shops etc. The main square in Kardamena has plenty of bars to choose from and the range of resturants and bars varies so there really is something for everyone.
