Advantages: Good weather. Plenty of good beaches. Small enough to explore. Friendly locals. ferries available for 'Island Hopping' Disadvantages: Nightmare Airport. Queues are the norm even for night flights. High season main beaches get very crowded. Limited cuisine. Not for those seeking 4 /5 Star Hotel standards

The salt lake between Tigaki and Marmari is a must for early season bird watchers.(May/June) Expect flamingos, herons, bee eaters ,cranes, kingfishers and many more. Plaka Forrest is another unadvertised beauty spot. This holiday in Kos is quite possibly the best holiday we have been on. It was taken as a late deal and only cost us £100 each plus £20 for insurance through Travel Choice. We particularly wanted to go to Greece as we had heard such good reports about the weather and things to do. The apartments that we stayed in were fairly basic but this didnt matter at all as we were hardly ever there. Trips were really good value if booked off site, not from ... ...volcano under the sea bed causes bubbles, just like a jacuzzi all around you! Another trip worth doing is up to the highest point of the Island to Zia which is a little village which offers all its own produce, lace, spices, pottery etc to holiday makers. There is a super restuarant there which offers a rooftop area where you can enjoy views all around the island. Although we didnt have time there is also the option of a day trip to Turkey which is ...

...10mins on the bus to Kos town. Kos is a very small island and a very beautiful one at that. Tingaki is a fairly small and quiet village in comparison to the neighbouring Kos town, which is much for the younger and livelier generation. There are plenty of watersports to keep you occupied throughout the day. The sea was very warm and there are miles of sandy white beaches. We took the opportunity to go on some of the excursions; the lazy day cruise, ...

...or six Greek islands, but Kos is still my favourite. Kos is one of the most beautiful and sunniest islands in the Aegean Sea. It is the third biggest of the Dodecanese (meaning twelve in greek) Islands. It has historic monuments, beautiful weather virtually all year round and it's white sand beaches are lapped by crystal clear water. Am I painting an enticing picture so far?
Kos Town is the Island's capital and there you can get away from beachlife ... ...by visiting the historic monuments. The town has modern broad streets bordered with trees, big squares, and houses with gardens. You will hit by the fact that there are so much greenery and trees around, fir, pine tree, cypress, eucalyptus, oak, jarmine, lilac, acacia and hibiscus. Take a stroll on the rock paved streets of the old town where you will find more tourist shops and when it gets dark there is a variety of restaurants and tavernas with ...

Kos is the most peacful and relaxing holiday you could ever wish ford.
I have been to Kos around 4 times, my partner has been around 10 times!!!
No matter when you go the scenery is always beautiful and the weather is to die for!
We visit Kos Town which is lovely and peaceful, a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of the shops and bars, you can walk to the old town where all the activity is in 5mins.
A must for people visiting Kos is ... ...suggest staying in Lambi in Kos Town it is only 5-10mins walk from the main shops and bars but it also has a few family run tavernas and restaurants which are all amazing and the many hotels that Lambi does offer are all either next to te beach or a very short stroll away. All the hotels are family run and are well looked after, everyone is always willing to help, a few hotels i would recommend would be the Alice Springs..the owners are lovely and ...

...different destinations in Greece but Kos has to be my favourite, I went with a group of friends and stayed in the 18-30's resort of Kardamena. The holiday was super we had a fab time on the beach every day with all the water sports. Then at night was party time. The place really came alive the thing that I found good was all the only fools and horses bars, This I found amusing as some people just sat in the bar and watched tv all day.

Advantages: Gorgeous island, lovely people, paradise Disadvantages: Perhaps not as suitable for families
Kos is absolutely stunning. Let's put it this way if I could only holiday in one place for the rest of my life then it would have to be Kos.
It's an island that has a bit to offer to all holiday makers whatever your taste or preference, although not so much catering for younger families as some of the Spanish resorts.
There are 4 main resorts offering different attractions for different people. There are other places on the island but more difficult ... ...of shops.
Tingaki - Near Kos Town, plenty of bars etc but quieter than the town.
Kefalos - My personal favourite, offers plenty of watersport activities for those interested, again plenty of places to eat and drink but not aimed at the younger "clubbing" market.
Kardamena - Favoured by the 18-30 crew, ideal for those who want late nights (or early mornings!) lots of bars, clubs etc.
Although only a small island it's steeped in history, hire a ...

...come flooding back to me. Kos was recommended by a friend, and I am so glad that I listed to their recommendation. When we arrived in the middle of the night, the air was wet and extremely sauna like. On the transfer to our hotel, it was pitch black and difficult to know exactly how Kos looked. However, on waking the next morning, I made my way to the balcony and the sight that greeted me was truly breathtaking - the beautiful harbour leading out ... ...was around twenty minutes away. Kos town is the heart of the island, a bustling hive of activity, with many restaurants and bars. At the harbourside, the locals hand out fliers detailing their various boat trips, etc. I would recommend the day trip to Bodrum in Turkey. The boat trip is only one hour, lunch is provided in a very quaint litle taverna and you are left to your own devices following lunch. All of this is roughly £10 per person, and worth ...

Getting around the island is hard slog as the buses run at GMT time (Greek Maybe Time) and i would suggest either hiring a car or like us a quad bike which gets you from A to B at a nice pace.

I WANTED TO ADD TO THIS SUBJECT FROM MY EXPERIENCE OF LIVING IN COS.

Thankfully, Kos was nothing like that. We stayed in a town called Kardemena, which is a quiet little fishing village built from the harbour up, directly across the water from Turkey. The sea was always a beautiful shade of deep blue and the air was also crisp and warm, with that lovely feeling of comfort and cosyness wherever you go.
Very few touts to be seen; hardly anyone was tugging at our arm as we walked down the street ... ...beach.
I stayed in Kos for two weeks, four star and it worked out at about £250 for the package and about £300 on food for the fortnight - not too bad at all and we ate in a different restaraunt every night, plenty of variety indeed.
Only drawback that some might find is a local law that doesn't allow bars and restaraunts to play music after midnight. Although this really didnt bother me at all.
I would definitely recommend this location to holidaymakers ...
