4 Stars A Fantastic Holiday In A Gorgeous Place Review with images 23/07/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Really stunning place, good nightlife, gorgeous beaches, lots to do.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Is rather expensive when you get there, and the hassling can get a bit too much.

I have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Turkey, staying in a place called Kusadasi and would like to give you my opinion on this amazing place. A Little about Kusadasi In General Kusadasi is a little place on the West Coast of Turkey; it’s a little Tourist Port and attracts a lot of visitors. It lies apparently according to their website around 95km away from the centre of Izmir, which from what I could gather is where most people fly into and fly from when coming and going from Kusadasi. Travelling around Kusadasi is very easy, they use a ‘dolmus’ which I’ll talk about a little bit ... more

Kusadasi is a tourist port on the West Coast of Turkey. Just below Ephesus. Turn right on the road from Selcuk and you can't miss it. Big place. And I really liked it. This is a busy place. It's also a hot place. It's a popular stop off point for cruise ships, so add this to the general tourist numbers staying in and around the town, plus the large number of local inhabitants and you have a place that throbs with life. I've been twice now, once staying at the Hotel Imbat about 2 miles outside of town, just past Ladies Beach - which by the way is the nearest decent stretch of sand to Kusadasi ... more

Advantages Advantages Warm, friendly and a little different

Disadvantages Disadvantages The hard sell might put off the more timid

The small sea port of Kusadasi lies on the West coast of Turkey, a few miles North East of the Greek Island of Samos and a similar distance South of the ancient port of Ephesus, home to one of the wonders of the ancient world, The Temple of Artemis. The week we spent in Kusadasi was my first visit to Turkey. As it was a freebie (Lucky ole me) I didn’t bother doing any research, so everything was a bit of a surprise. Thankfully it was a thoroughly good surprise. The centre of Kusadasi really is a gem of a place. Up to three cruise ships visit a day, so the many hawkers, shop owners and ... more

4 Stars Kusadasi - Feeling HOT HOT HOT!! Review with images 17/09/2005
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Absolutely gorgeous weather! Lovely beach & friendly people!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Being hassled by all shop owners/market workers to come and buy something from them!

***MY HOLIDAY THIS YEAR*** This year me & 3 friends settled on Kusadasi in Turkey (on the Aegean coast - about an hour from Izmir airport) for our holiday. We booked our tickets in July (this year -2005) & then saw on the news the week after that a bomb had gone off there - felt a bit anxious at this point but decided to still go on the holiday as I really feel that anything can happen at any time anywhere so any place is safe/dangerous as any other (well you know what I mean?!) ***THE JOURNEY THERE** So we set off on the 2nd August (me & 3 other girls).. we got a flight from Manchester ... more

Before my first trip to Turkey I was basing my expectation on stories of very forward locals and some generally unpleasant rumours.I could barely have been more wrong. As a group of 15 people, 21-22 years old, I can safely say for everyone that our holiday couldnt have gone better. We weren't looking for an Ibiza type holiday, and Kusadasi is perfect in that it offers good nightlife, cheap food and beautiful beaches, but allows you to relax and unwind without worry of hugely drunken tourists. The excursion boat trip was the highlight of the holiday, for around £11 we spent 8 hours in glorious ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very cheap.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little on the dirty.

Cheap Cheap, erm no actually, Turkey is more like Gobble Gobble. This is a place of no thrills but cheap deals. The holidays are on the whole good, very cheap, hot nice clear waters and every thing really is cheap! You can buy anything and everything, although I must say that its all fake. Clothes, watches, you name it they make it. The best buy are the watches and sunglasses, dont expect top quality, but for about £30 you wouldn't really expect a £1500 Omega watch would you? The food is great, you must try the local mezzies, the sea food is also first class, you can expect to pay about a ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, plenty to do

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pushy traders in the bazaar

This was the third place I had visited in Turkey. It turned out to be by far the best. My wife and myself stayed at the Hotel Korumar. It was a 5 star hotel on the outskirts of the town. Despite its location, we found it very easy and cheap to get to and from the centre. The Dolmus cost about 20p for a 15 minute ride and they run up until midnight. The centre of Kusadasi had everything. A vast range of restaurants all at reasonable prices, a bazaar where we could buy almost everything including 10 t-shirts for under £9. There was also a centre where all sorts of shops could be found. If you ... more

We arrived at Marmaris airport at 6:30 in the morning, tired and a bit sore after an average flight and all I wanted to do was curl up and sleep for the 2 hour journey to Kusadassi. Not a chance! As soon as we left the town we were held completely by the changing landscape which reminded me of the Northern transvaal of south Africa. Arriving in Kusadassi was a bit of a let down. It seemed full of half built buidings. However, this is mainly on the outskirts and after a few days we didnt even notice. One thing that should be said is that it is very hilly. The bus seemed to be fixed on a ... more

Advantages Advantages Guaranteed sunshine, Cheap, Friendly locals

Disadvantages Disadvantages VERY British, Overcrowded beach, Nothing traditionally Turkish

Ladies Beach lies just 6km from the main resort of Kusadasi on the south western coast of Turkey. It has a compact, very safe sandy beach, where bars and restaurants line the pedestrianised beach promenade and hotels climb the surrounding hills. It is a very popular resort with the Irish, who come in large family groups throughout the summer season. This is no doubt the reason bars advertise themselves as "Irish Bars", despite the fact that there is nothing Irish about them, and few of them even serve Guiness! There is a good selection of inexpensive restaurants, with names like "June & Ray's ... more

Advantages Advantages Hot, great beaches, great places to eat, inexspensive.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pushy in the bazaars.

My family and I have visited Kusadasi several times now, and overall I would rate it highly. We tend to rent out villas, of which there are thousands. There are plenty of excellent hotels on offer also. Kusadasi is a popular destination, for Turkish holidaymakers, this is obviously a good sign. Eating Out : Kusadasi has literally thousands of places to go out to eat. They range from high class restaurants, to dodgy roadside cafes. We found that along the seafront there are many excellent choices of places to eat. Near the harbour the restaurants tend to be exspensive, a la carte type eateries ... more
