***The menu***
La Tasca have a fairly extensive menu, which contains around 36 tapas dishes to choose from, and also four paella dishes. You also have a choice of accompaniments to have alongside your meal. For the vegetarians among you there really is a lot to choose from off of the tapas menu as one of my friends who I went with is vegetarian and she was impressed with the choice. ...Ciao to put in another La Tasca sub menu. I've eaten at the Liverpool one and the Leeds one and they are all excellent.
La Tasca are a chain of restaurants based on the Spanish eating experience with their head office in , you guessed it…Bolton , Lancashire as you might expect. The Newcastle restaurant is situated adjacent to “Est Est Est” another chain restaurant and behind the “Pitcher and Piano” pub on the rejuvenated ... ...river Tyne from the Baltic Arts centre.
Their menu is made up of “tapas” which are small individual dishes , and basically what you tend to do when you eat there is that each person chooses three “tapas” and then you all just tuck in to the numerous dishes on the table. This means that you can experience absolutely lots of flavours within a single sitting.

...evening in a restuarant called La Tasca in Kingston, an authentic Tapas restuarant. I'm normally a little wary of "authentic" restuarants as they can often end up very cheesy, however I decided to give this one a try. If you are not sure what Tapas is - just imagine lots of small individual dishes of food which you share among your table - its a very enjoyable and social way of eating.
Located on the outskirts of Kingston, the restuarant is a little ... ...king prawns and Albondigas a la Jardinera (£3.45) large meatballs in a delicious tomato sauce. There are also various vegetable dishes, as well as many more meat and fish dishes. The idea is that you choose as many individual dishes as you like and share them amongst your party - side plates are provided! I love this style of eating as it is so relaxed and you can choose to try a whole range of dishes in one meal.

La Tasca is a chain of Tapas restaurants that aim for an intimate atmosphere combined with friendly service and reasonably priced food.
I've beeen going to the La Tasca in Manchester (Deansgate) for quite a while, however, it took me 2 years before I realsied that there was one in Liverpool (near Paradise street bus station),where I live... Doh!
I've now been to the Liverpool one quite a few times and have found it to be inferior to the one in ... ...intimate. The reason for this is that the Manchester one is iunderneath an officeblock so out of necessity has no windows and so is completely candle lit.
However, apart from this one point I have found the food and friendliness of service to be consistant. One thing that disappointed me on visiting the Liverpool branch was that the decor in both restaurants is almost identiacal. While this is to be expected with chain restaurants, when I first ...

...found a 50% voucher for La Tasca and thought I would print it out and take it with us just in case, a long with a few others. We shopped until we dropped and then went in search of the food hall. We had never been to La Tasca before and stood and read the menu before we went in and showed our voucher. The food sounded great....and Wow! It was! I ordered loads...to the enjoyment of everyone else in the restaurant :-( I felt like I was putting on a ... ...full of different pots and plates full of food! I am a size 10 and eat like a horse! I had Calamari, King Prawns, Lamb with prunes and sultanas, some sort of spicy sausage and a salad (just to show willing!) and it was all amazing. La Tasca represents a breath of fresh air to Liverpool. Sure, we have Spanish restaurants, two of which are frighteningly good in fact and they serve Tapas but it's the idea behind La Tasca that makes it so unique (to Liverpool). La Tasca is a restaurant that is somewhere between civilised wine bar and Spanish restaurant. The idea is new to these shores but very much the thing over there. A kind of meeting place to enjoy the cooler evening weather ... ...some light snacks to engage idle hands. All very civilised although slightly out of place in Liverpool or indeed any but the most thoroughly Cosmopolitan of English City's. I really do hope it catches on and people start to take advantage of what is being offered - its just a shame they can't do anything about our weather!

Food is fab perfect setting on the river and there are tables outside if you can get one. Good wine list and of course the traditional Sangria.
It is very busy so service is slow be prepared to be in there for a while. We deceied to skip desert for that reason. Atmosphere is ok they have candles, can be a bit noisey for a romantic night but great if you are a group. The Tapas has lots of choices and I would recomend around 4 dishes per person as ... ...did!! Prices for the Tapas start around £3.50 and go up to around £5.25 per dish. The wine as in most places starts around £12 a bottle as is the Sangria.
I would recomend for a good night out. There is not much parking near by so either get a cab or catch a bus into the town centre and walk through. You can Park in the main town. ...

I know this is listed under Liverpool restraunts but they are a chain & I couldn't find the specific one for Kingston Upon Thames.
I went for the first time a few days ago at Kingston Upon Thames and was very very pleased! The location is good - by the riverside, we sat viewing the river (and in summer you can sit outside) through the big glass windows which was very good.
The ambience is very good - in the evening it was dark with only candle ... ...(which isn't too loud or soft). The tables were also set quite far apart which is good.
The waiter/waitresses were very friendly and as we hadn't had tapas before they advised. If you aren't familiar with tapas, instead of having the traditional 3 course meal, you just select smaller dishes (about 3 or 4 each) and have a bit of each. It makes it fun & romantic sharing also.
