Advantages Advantages Great Skiing, amazing scenery and amazing snow

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not such a great resort for Apres Ski

After the disaster of last year's ski trip to Val D'Isere, we decided that this year rather than try Europe again we would head further afield to Canada. After a bit of research and a tempting offer from Lastminute.com we opted for Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. The opinion is that the Canada is one of, if not the best place in the world to go skiing and that coupled with the price and a spot of internet research prompted us to head for the small hamlet of Lake Louise, hidden deep within the Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The Hamlet of Lake Louise is located at the side of the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great holiday

The silent majesty of the Canadian Rockies in winter is a completely unforgettable sight but the feeling of skiing down the tree lined runs is second to none. Now that Christmas is over it is time to dust off the Salopettes, dig out the passports, buy a new set of thermals and head off to the slopes. Well an introduction like that makes me sound like an expert skier who goes year in, year out racing down the black runs, well the reality doesn’t quite add up, I have been once, to one of the most peaceful, beautiful areas I have ever visited Lake Louise, in the Canadian Rockies. Lake Louise is a ... more

5 Stars Lake Louise - A beginners perspective Review with images 16/05/2008

    Advantages Advantages so many

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Skiing at Lake Louise was such an amazing experience for me. I went for a week at the very end of the season this year and it was the best snow I have ever seen! This was only my second time skiing (the first was France at christmas) and has helped boost my confidence so much. The runs are very wide and there are some great long runs for beginners. From every lift there is a green run which meant i could spend a lot more time with the rest of my party who are all a lot better skiiers than me. This also meant there were non of the panic attacks I had in France when I was getting pulled onto a ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Hospitality

Disadvantages Disadvantages transport to pistes required

I am a keen skiier and had been to Europe many times before we decided to try Canada. You get all the the advantages of skiing in Canada, great snow all season, friendly instructors, free guides (ski pals). The skiing area is large, and there are plenty of pistes to keep you occupied for over a week, not as many Blacks or Double-Blacks as nearby Sunshine Village, but plenty of below tree-line runs for all except the Expert skiiers. The lifts are mainly Chairs and all look well kept and are run by friendly staff, there are many places for lunch time breaks, whether you want to grab a quick ... more
