Advantages: Nice hotel, good communal facilities Disadvantages: Not the most modern rooms
We stayed at the Lakeside hotel for three nights in August 2007. As we're not of 'above average means' we usually go for the Travelodge option when holidaying, but we decided to save up a bit and go for somewhere that was a bit nicer.
The hotel's website shows the hotel in detail and shows all the facilities it offers and we were attracted by the look of the place and its setting right in the edge of Windermere. I do have to say that, although the ... ...communal areas of the hotel, it does take a few liberties with the guest rooms.
The rooms pictured are of a high standard and relatively modern-looking but the room that we were in (while quite 'cosy') was also a little run-down and in the oldest part of the hotel. I think we were lucky in that we went on one of the only fine and sunny weekends of the summer or else the room might have been a bit cold. The facilities were fair, the bed was comfy ...

Advantages: Excellent Food, Lovely setting, Good Pool Disadvantages: Poor Rooms
The lakeside hotel is set in beautifull lakedistrict on the banks of Lake Windermere. I decided to treat my wife to a 2 night break away. We went for the best room in the hotel hoping for a romantic break. Well it hasnt been the worst £500 ive spent but i must say i was a little dissappointed with the hotel for the money.
The Room:
The room looked really quite dated and old, i realise this is an old hotel but that should add to the character and ... ...nice view if you could put up with the draft coming through the windows. The bathroom was a reasonable size but the sunken bath looked as if it hadnt been washed properly for a long time. Similarly the shower was difficult to get to the correct temprature and the sinks were in a similar condition to the bath. In all honestly it looked as if the room should have a whole new refit.
