Advantages: Opulent. Friendly. Clean, luxurious home from home Disadvantages: No in-room tea / coffee making facilities; expensive room service
...most enjoyable stay at the Langham Hilton. One of the flagship hotels of the European branch of the Hilton group, I had read several reviews of this hotel and - these being fairly negative - entered the portals with my eyes wide open. I was expecting poor, arrogant service. Wrong - the service was helpful, friendly and efficient. I was expecting tiny rooms. Wrong, again! Read on! So - Why visit the Langham? There are several answers. Firstly, it ... ...marble bathroom with monogrammed fluffy Langham Hilton bathrobes and slippers, an excellent bath and shower and fully supplied with lovely "Penhaligon" toiletries. And then more stairs, leading to a private drawing room with setee, table, another minibar, colour TV with SKY channels, and - up a few more steps - a writing desk with writing paper, envelopes, a high-speed internet connection and one of several telephones. Look hard enough and you'll ...

Advantages: Impressive public rooms, central location. Disadvantages: Can be expensive.
We decided to stay here for an anniversary treat, partly because it is close to the London Palladium (where we were seeing a show) and partly out of curiosity, as my wife remembers it when it was a run-down collection of BBC offices and dormitories. Having read some adverse comments, we were not sure what to expect.
Having checked prices on the internet, I wandered up to the hotel one lunch hour to “case the joint” and enquire about booking. My ... ...dinner dance on Saturdays - not our scene. I eventually booked two nights at a room rate of £168 per night including breakfast (see later!), slightly better than the net and not too bad for central London. Even though I was in my Friday casual gear and by no means looked well off, the man at reception was very helpful and friendly - a trend which was repeated throughout our stay. They also seem to manage a good selection of languages between them.

Advantages: close to attractions Disadvantages: unless you are rich or famous, forget it, you will be treated like a member of the underclass
...my family stayed at the Langham Hilton in London. We were all very excited to be spending a weekend in what was described as luxury. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a red carpet and a doorman at the entrance to the hotel. The reception foyer was magnificent. The reception staff however were unfriendly to say the least. We were not obviously wealthy, and not famous, so we received treatment that was impolite and rude. Our room was ... ...be told that at the Langham Hilton you get what you pay for, and that was what we had paid for. The two nights we had paid for cost £400 for one room with a double and a single bed in it. Value for money? I don't think so. Be warned! ...

Advantages: Location - near to Oxford Circus, Picadilly Disadvantages: none
This hotel was one of the best I have stayed in in London. We booked a standard and got upgraded to a suite. The suite was amazing. Big king size bed, 40 inch plasma tv with sky channels, a seperate desk area, sofa and coffe table, a minibar area, full marble bathroom and walk in closet. Everything you needed was in the room from champagne glasses to an umbrella. I unfortunately cant comment on the standard rooms as we didnt get to see one. They ... ...These have access to their own lounge area where you can enjoy complementary breakfast and afternoon tea.
Staff could not do enough for us. Food fantastic - although expensive but thats what you expect from a 5* in London. We used room service for a midnight snack when we came home and the food was good standard and nicely prepared. We had a continental breakfast included in our rate but decided to go the full hog and offer room service breakfast. ...
