...was announced we were approaching Las Vegas and there was much craining of necks to get a look out of the window. Luckily we'd bagged seats on the left hand side of the plane so we got the view! Nothing prepares you for your first view of Vegas and it is something I will never forget - even conjuring up the image in my mind still makes me smile. This is a Mecca for all bargain hunters. In here are the outlet stores for Nike, Reebok, Black & Decker, Jockey and more. At the door someone was handing out discount vouchers for the Reebok store, we went inside as the big sign said everything was around 70% cheaper than RRP. We ended up buying two pairs of trainers, 3 t-shirts, 3 small gym towels and a pair of flip flops and it came to £40. ...

...with the statistics. Las Vegas spews out statistics like slot machine jackpots used to spew out cascades of coins. Research the city on the net and you will be deluged with numbers: of visitors, of hotel rooms, of dollars gambled – and the tumultuous growth in all these things. They are intrinsic to its nature, and the urge to quote a few of them can’t be denied for long, but let’s not start there. Where then to start? Perhaps at the airport, just ... ...desert out from “old” downtown Las Vegas. The Flamingo was the brainchild of an entrepreneur called Billy Wilkerson, backed by investors of distinctly dubious provenance; there is still a memorial plaque in its gardens dedicated to one of them, the notorious mobster Bugsy Siegal.
Wilkerson, Siegal and their cronies conceived the hare-brained notion that if you built a casino big, ballsy and brash enough, and shouted about it loudly enough, the world ...

I have been to many parts of Europe – Spain, Germany, France, Belgium etc etc – as well as Barbados, but none come close to LV. GENERAL LAS VEGAS BOULEVARD
Las Vegas is not simply about gambling. For me, it was more about looking at the overwhelming sites in and around the hotel – here are a few of the fantastic hotels and what they represent…
Luxor – pyramid
Excalibur – medieval castle
Venetian – Venice
Paris – Paris (obviously)
Caesar’s Palace – well you can imagine, absolutely awe-inspiring.
New York New York – fantastic skyline of New York ...

...I’d be spending Christmas in Las Vegas I would have told them they were mad. So when Rachel asked me to go 3 weeks before Christmas to attend their wedding there was no way I could say no. It was a trip I’d never thought of really making and certainly wasn’t high on my destinations list, or at least that’s what I thought. As the trip got the closer and the more I thought about it, the more I actually realised I really wanted to go.

...When people think of Las Vegas, the imagery would usually involve lots of casinos, flashing lights and annoying Americans. Well your not far wrong, however, it is that and a whole lot more.

...we spent 5 days in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The true city that never sleeps, anything and everyone goes. It shuns the healthy image portrayed by other US states such as neighbouring California - smoking is the norm - everywhere - it's the done thing to get boozed up and gamble your life away. ...is there such hype surrounding Las Vegas? I don't see the attraction myself. Having stayed there in the summer of 2003, I hope to never return. Here's why. Vegas is in its own little bubble. It's a heaven for consumerism, obesity, greed, and tack. First of all, the heat overwhelmed me. It made it impossible to go outside for any longer than a few minutes at a time. The air is thick, heavy with the desert heat.
