Freemont Street Experience

Advantages: Good Entertainmet and atmosphere
Disadvantages: None

...recently developed attraction in downtown Las Vegas. The original Las Vegas houses the famous casinos such as The Golden Nugget and The Four Queens casinos seen in many of the old movies. These days when you visit downtown Las Vegas you get the added attraction of a sound and light show. The street is now completely undercover by way of a huge arched ceiling housing the equipment for the light show. We went in December this year and were there for ...
...the best shows is the Las Vegas Rock legends which obviously includes the late great Elvis Presley. The sound and light show is well worth a visit. One of the most impressive things is that seconds before the show starts all the lights from the casinos are switched off in one go. This in itself is quite an impressive thing to see, so many lights being switched off at the same time: Some light switch!! In between the shows you can visit some of the ...

Las Vegas on a budget

Advantages: cheap and cheerful, plenty to see and do
Disadvantages: none

Las Vegas...there's sooo much to see and do that it's difficult not to spend all of your money in the first three days of your visit! Here's a few tips on how to do Las vegas on a budget. Every hotel and casino gives away free stuff. Whichever hotel you stay at or visit, find the information desk and ask for a book of coupons- money off, 2 for 1s and free incentives can all be found in these magic books. The weekly Las vegas magazine, which again ...
...packed with ideas and offers and you will find many money off vouchers in here too. Most, if not all, casinos have a players club that can be joined. Membership is usually free and you can obtain free slot play, free drinks and even free rooms just by signing up. If you're in town for a while and you've got an aftrenoon to waste, there are always timeshare companies looking to give you $100, free show tickets, free food vouchers and money off coupons ...

Electric Shocks and Waste

Advantages: Great view on flight in
Disadvantages: Loud and obnoxious

Las Vegas is one of the few places on earth that can be seen from space. The lights that fill the night sky are just one indication of the type of place this is. Big, bright and wasteful it is, a place of culture it is not. I travelled to Las Vegas to meet some friends of some friends. The last few miles of sky entering Las Vegas are exceedingly impressive, with the desert and mountains stretched out beneath you. Make the most of this sight, as ...
...buildings which are impressively designed and lit, to enjoy a good meal and to admire the wild animals caged within the hotels for our enjoyment. However for me, I remember Las Vegas as a monument to Human greed, lust and lack of respect for others and the world around us. ...

Viva Las Vegas

Advantages: Cheaper than you think
Disadvantages: Too far away

Where can I start?...This is without a doubt my favourite holiday destination. I've been there 3 times now and loved every minute of it. It's one of these places where you can really live like a king for not a great deal of money. The main reason is that the hotel/casino's subsidise accomodation and food in order to get you thru the door on the assumption that when you are there you'll gamble. If you don't gamble therefore you can really pay bargain ...
...The machines are very different to those in the UK and with certain types (ie Video Poker or Blackjack) you can spend ages playing (with a bit of skill) and get free drinks while you're doing this. The games to go for are the 2 above as they involve skill AND luck whereas everything else is just luck. Also, join all the "Slot Clubs" which are basically loyalty schemes for each casino which can earn you cash-back, t-shirts etc. I could go on about ...

A Gamblers Paradise

Advantages: Great for entertainment, gambling, food and shopping
Disadvantages: Need to keep control or can dent the bank balance

...to making the most of Las Vegas if you are a gambler. When you arrive at Las Vegas Airport there are a couple of options that you can take. For around 60$ you can take a stretch limo to your hotel or just hop in a cab but be very careful. Make sure the yellow cab shows the tarrif quite clearly because from the airport to the hotel we got stung for $24 when the yellow cab who took us back to the airport said that the journey should only cost $8. ...
...it as all of the Las Vegas stip hotels are excellent in their own individual rights. My advise is stay up until around 10-11pm on the first night no matter how tired or awake you feel and then go to bed, that way you will not feel the jet lag as much. The first day you are there take time to enrol into your hotel/ casino loyalty club which will be advertised. The benefits of this is if like everyone else you are going to use the slot machnes then ...

Las Vegas - Another World!

Advantages: Like you're in another world
Disadvantages: None

We visited Las Vegas whilst doing a tour of the main sites in Arizona/Nevada. After driving through the Hoover Dam and being in awe of the size of the magnificent spectacle we carried on to Las Vegas where we stayed for four days. We stayed at Circus Circus, a big hotel at one end of the strip. After three days of trekking from our room, through bright, noisy casinos, we found a shuttle bus which took us to the front of the hotel!! Over two days ...
...evening we went to downtown Las Vegas and stood under an electronic canopy showing a light and sound show at Fremont Street and then wandered around the famous Golden Nugget. Our trip to Las Vegas was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone. You don't have to spend money in the casinos although you have to walk through one in most hotels to see any of the attractions! There are so many shows to see if you have time but just to walk around the ...

...red tint to it and Las Vegas itself was surrounded by mountains and canyons. Just walking down the famous Strip(a major road)was entertainment in itself as some of the sights you can see include a miniture version of Paris, a fairtale castle and a volcano thats shoots fire. One things that hits you when you arrive is how hot the place is. It was like being in an oven and the heat didn't seem to get any better at night. Most places are air conditioned ...

Vegas in a week

Advantages: Too many to mention
Disadvantages: Stripper touts

I spent 7 nights in Vegas in the MGM Grand and found that I could have easily spent another week there. A helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon is a must, absolutely awesome way to see and appreciate this natural wonder. The strip itself has to be seen to truly appreciate the tackiness but extremely attractive tackiness!!! The hotels are amazing and nearly all the big ones have some unique show or attraction to entice you in. I found the casinos ...
...My favourite hotel to walk around was Ceasars Palace, an real treat to see. The only downside was the appearance every 20 feet of touts handing out cards and magazines advertising all kinds of strippers, but I guess that is the penalty to pay in order to visit this original adult playground. All said and done I can't wait to go again!!! ...

Las Vegas

Advantages: People, food, nightlife and site seeing
Disadvantages: Very hot in June July

Las Vegas. A totally wonderful experience. I had always thought that Vegas was tacky and not for me until I went. The hotels are amazing the food fantastic and the people even better. It's a place that prides itself on providing a service to people and not being ashamed to do it. Vegas is a 24 hour town so there is no shortage of things to do. A great restaurant to visit is Benihana's located in the Las Vegas Hilton. This is a japenese steak house ...
...food in front of you. Cocktails come served in china cups shaped like Geisha's and Buddas that a free to take home after the meal. Good deals can be found all over on the strip, but prices charged can be varied. A round of drinks in Caesars Palace will cost twice as much as in the Golden nugget because it is further down town. Shopping is another good thing about Vegas. There are expensive designer stores everywhere, but also a happy medium of local ...

Gambling city

Advantages: City that never sleeps
Disadvantages: Be careful, you might end up losing all your money in the casinos

If you are visiting Las Vegas, you must try your luck on the slots. Probably you will win a jackpot. Accommodation is not a problem there. Most hotels in the main street offer really cheap rates. The reason is because they want to get you to play in their casinos, that's where most of their incomes. Do try the buffet, it's cheap and plenty. At night there will be free performances outside the almost every hotels, you can walk all the way from the ...

viva las vegas

Advantages: all night party town, with excellent cheap food.
Disadvantages: too much of the party life can leave you needing another holiday when you get home.

As a holiday destination, Las Vegas is in a league of it's own, everything is built on a huge scale, and growing by the day, (the smog that covers the city is mostly made from all the construction dust).I would strongly recommend the sundance helicopter tour of the grand canyon, we enjoyed a champagne lunch and the whole experience could not be faulted. The luxor was an exeptional place to stay, the internal atrium is amazing, and their attention ...
...My only real problem with Las Vegas is the over indulgdence, almost every eatery seems to be an "eat as much as you want" buffet, and you could not leave any hotel without first having to wander through the casino, not good for those who struggle to resist temptation. Siegfried and Roy's secret garden is a must, the tigers are so intelligent, the dolphin show is great too, and make sure you go down town to the golden nugget and enjoy a huge shrimp ...

Vegas is for big kids

Advantages: fun, busy, cheap accommodation
Disadvantages: depends how much you gamble

Las Vegas is like a big adult playground thats open 24 hours a day and where days all merge into one until you're broke. Driving there from LA and arriving at night meant that our first glimpse of vegas was the masses of neon lights that could be seen from miles away. Each hotel is like a seperate theme park where you can ride rollercoasters round the edges, bungee jump in one, see shows and shop before you even gt to the casinos. I stayd in the ...
...is almost the size of a small town with a club, several restaurants, shops etc and a pool outside. Like most of the hotels there were people dressed up to go with the theme and people having pictures taken with people dressed in Egyptian clothing. Even the soap is in the shape of pyramids and the rooms are comfy with all the necessary facilities. Considering what is on offer all the hotels along the strip are much cheaper than you'd expect, as is ...
