Advantages: good snow, big ski area, pretty Disadvantages: Fairly quiet, not a lot of shops.
I have fond memories of Les Gets,the small Alpine village in the Haute Savoie. It was where I learnt to ski, and I had a fantastic time.
The flight is normally to Geneva- a short flight- but the downside is that it is a long coach transfer. The roads are just a bit scarey to the resort (my friend was ill), so if you can afford it pay for a transfer by taxi- its about £90 now!
The village is very pretty, based around one main road that links the ... ...some bars, and a poor nightclub (l'igloo); but great skiing.
On one side you have Mont Caly and Mont Chery. This is the highest skiing in the resort, is virtually snow sure, but is not that extensive, it does link with the back of Morzine if you fancy skiing one of the scariest runs I have ever met in my life!
The other side is called "Les Chevannes", and is a winter wonderland. Slighlty lower mountains, sunny, a bubble gondola to get you up there ...
