Advantages: Lavish, brilliant costumes, great music, well acted, excellent sets. Disadvantages: It is L-O-N-G ... but every minute of it is excellent!
"Les Miserables", or "Les Miz" to it's many fans, is a brilliant tale set in France and begins around the time of the French Revolution. It centres on Victor Hugo's story of Jean Valjean (BRILLIANTLY portrayed by Colm Wilkinson) and of his life. Thrown into jail, he makes an enemy of one of the guards, and after he escapes, this man tracks him down to a place where he has rebuilt his life and is now mayor. It is an epic! Very long, but well worth ... ...is incredible. Another that I can listen to for hours on end! Well acted - I've seen others play Jean Valjean but to my mind Colm Wilkinson is THE BEST! He IS Jean Valjean! Brilliant sets and costumes. This has to be one of the most lavish productions I've seen. All of the people behind the scenes deserve credit for the hours they must have put into this. So often they get forgotten and the actors take all the credit.
No matter who is playing Jean ...

...you want 'light entertainment', then Les Mis is most definitely NOT it - but if you want outstanding music, a powerful and thought-provoking storyline and more than an entertaining evening out, you would be hard pushed to find better.
If you get the chance to see just one show if you are in London, I would wholeheartedly recommend that it is this one. Beware though - it is still not easy to get tickets for the show, despite it’s already long ...

Advantages: The big show numbers such as One Day More send shivers up your spine Disadvantages: Drink prices
This has to be the Worlds Best musical, keeping you thrilled from start to finish with tear jerking moments aswell as luaghs with the Thenardiers. I would recommend this musical to everyone as it is an experience. The music from start to finish is atmospheric and the songs arn't corney like most musicals can be bursting into song with cheesy queues. Based about the french revolution, the musical follows the story of a man Jean Valjean with his life ... ...barricades. This musical if full of emotion so I wouldn't recommend it to young children unter 10 as some scenes may be upsetting. For the price, its the standard in all London theatre but usually you can get 50% off deals, but if you can't its still worth the money. 3 hours long and second keeps you on the edge of your seats

Advantages: musically and cheroegraphically stunning Disadvantages: confusing storyline
I am a huge fan of musicals and I have to say that this is one of the best. i ahve seen it about 4 times now and it seems to get better every time.
Written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg and adpated from the novel by Victor Hugo it tells the story of Jean Valjean, a released convict, who is chased by Javert, a policeman who believes that he belongs back in the chain gang. When he is free, Valjean promises adying woman, Fantine that ... ...he dies.
It is et in the midst of the French Revolution and involves many more characters and their fortunes throughout the struggles. Musically, it is stunning and what I believe to be, one of the best scores ever written for musical theatre. 'One More Day' never fals to send a shiver down my spine and 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' brings home the pain felt by those who lost loved ones at that time.

Advantages: Interesting Disadvantages: Boring in the middle of the story
This is definitely not a receonmended musical for those who don't enjoy theatre. It is rather long and there are a lot of twists and turns in the story. When i bought the ticket of this musical, i don't have any idea of the story at all. So a lot of times, i was having some difficulties to understand the storyline. For that reason, i really reconmend that you should at least read through the story from the internet or get a souvenir booklet in order ... ...man named Jean Valjean who was an outcast and on parole for 19 years but later saved by a bishop. He is determined to turn into a new leaf and became a rich man. However things are not so easy. Many things happened to him while somebody actually trying to arrest him as he has broken his parole. This is the first musical i have watched in United Kingdom. Sometimes, i felt a bit bored in the theatre as i am not following the story. However, this has ...

I know poor pun but the show was great with the action, romance there is something for both female and male - which is sometimes difficult on the west end - as my boyfriend will agree too. The show is full of life and a great show for a great night out - the long running time at the theatre just proves how popular it is and how popular it will remain for the forseeable future. It will find its place amoungst phantom as one of the great musicals forever! ...

This is the best musical I've ever seen.
I had thought "The Phantom of Opera" is very powerful and amazing. But I changed my mind after I saw "Les Miserables". the musical is really fantastic. The way to tell the great story in a short time with lots of music and scene is totally unbelievable. I went to get a soundtrack as I love the music so much. This is the musical which I'd like to go to see it again and again.
If you don't have enough time ...

Advantages: an exciting spectacle with strong songs Disadvantages: At over 2½ hrs don't plan to do anything else
Les Mis has now been playing for 15 years in London and after seeing the show it's easy to see why as the shaow had me engrossed for the whole time, which is not as easy as it sounds as the show lasts for over 2½ hours.
What makes this show so vital is that the plot, based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name, is more appealing than your standard mmusical and has a strong narrative flow. The sets, highlighted with dry ice give a real feel of ...
