One of the greatest buildings of the world

Advantages: awesome building, can enter for free (donations welcomed!)
Disadvantages: a little gloomy

...me on a journey through Liverpool cathedral, I have to introduce one important caveat. I am not religious and I know very little about religion, churches and cathedrals. I rarely frequent religious establishments, not because I dislike them, but purely because I feel like I do not belong in them, like I should not be visiting them if I do not understand much about Christianity and have not officially joined any one religion. It is for this reason ...
...world." ***Drawn to Liverpool Cathedral*** I was in Liverpool on a business trip and my assignment finished much earlier than expected. I decided to look for a place to have lunch, which is always a difficult undertaking in Liverpool when you are not keen on pub lunch. I traversed the city centre when I spotted something that, to my untrained and ignorant eyes, looked like a castle. Did Liverpool have a castle? I stopped of for lunch and decided ...

Cathedral

Advantages: Good
Disadvantages: None

One of the great buildings of the world and it is the largest cathedral in Britain and 5th largest in the world. The cathedral has high gothic arches and bells in the tower. The construction of the cathedral was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott. Car Parking is available at the Cathedral, with a charge of £1. Multi stormy car parking is available nearer the city centre in Mount Pleasant and in neighboring Duke Street. There is some limited free street ...

Largest Anglican Cathedral in Europe

Advantages: Imposing. Great views from Tower.
Disadvantages: The surrounding area is a bit run down

Liverpool Cathedral in Saint James Mount in Hope Street,is the largest Anglican Cathedral in both England and Europe. This massive gothic building defies all the superlatives. It has the highest gothic arches, the largest organ, the heaviest ring of bells and its 331 feet high Tower offers scenic views of the neighbourhood. This reddish-pinkish building is certainly imposing- it turns out to be the 5th largest Cathedral in the world. It is actually ...
...to build a Cathedral in Liverpool was made in 1901 and Giles Gilbert Scott was selected as the architect for this mammoth undertaking. The foundation stone was laid in 1904 by King Edward VII and the Lady Chapel was completed in 1910 but work went on until the west End was dedicated in 1978. Enough of the facts and superlatives! The building is certainly a Liverpool icon and the massive tower stands over the city as a symbol of faith in God. ...

Don't miss it

Advantages: suitable for most ages
Disadvantages: transport required

Liverpool cathedral is just that little bit different. No a lot different. Although it is very modern it is enchanting and a must on the list of every visitor to Liverpool. There is little I can say other than it is made with red bricks but not your ordinary house bricks. It is this unusual feature that makes it charmingly refreshing. It is very tasteful and looks imposing from both inside and out. It is possible to park close by so visiting will ...
