NAME OF LOCATION: Llandudno, North Wales BACKGROUND Gee Vee Travel were doing a March trip to Llandudno and my mother decided to book this particular holiday for her, my father, and myself. Although I have visited Llandudno many times, they have usually been day trips from home (Chesterfield) or from other North Wales destinations that we have stayed at, so staying in Llandudno would be a great change. I read several Ciao reviews on the topic so that I knew what was available in March - not a lot, most things open from Easter to October, and Easter was 3 weeks after my trip! Typical. However ... more

    Advantages Advantages spectacular place

    Disadvantages Disadvantages british weather

I'm going to tell you about a little seaside resort that I hold very dear to my heart. Llandudno, My mum and dad first took me to this small town when I was a baby, I don't remember much of them younger holidays but I do remember them, as I got older. I was very close to my nanna before she passed away and would enjoy numerous times with her in Llandudno. We used to always stay in the Clarence hotel, she loved it there because it was full of Scottish people like her and she could have a good old natter and sing along with all her new friends. When she died it was awful for me as we were so ... more

5 Stars Seaside Fun without the Seaside Tack Review with images 22/04/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages has that seaside feel, not too many arcades, lots to see and do, family fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad weather, busy, parking

I live just near Llandudno in North Wales, in the smaller town of Conwy. But I frequently go out to Llandudno to do my shopping and just generally walk around. I love that although it is a seaside town it isn't like some which have arcades every 2nd shop. It has a little bit more class than some seaside towns but it still has the fun seaside feel. ****Things to Do****Go up the Orme by cable car and see the most amazing views. Beware though the cable car only runs in good weather, if there is wind they shut down. You can also use the tram, which is a nice vintage way to see the roads up the ... more

Advantages Advantages Plenty of shops to look at, loads of hotels and guest houses, loads of Churches

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very expensive, Very wet and windy, Need loads of money

As some of you here at Ciao have read my review on Conwy I decided to write a review on Lladudno (pronounced Clandidno). We only spent one day in Llandudno and if we'd have known what it was like when we stayed there then we would have stayed there for the remainder of our holiday. We stayed on Chapel Street in a really nice, clean guest house called Hafan Y Mor Guest House. The room was spotless clean as was the rest of the guest house. The only comment I have to make was that the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything. The people were really friendly in the guest house and ... more

Advantages Advantages The beach, victorian everything!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none !!

We all like to go on a cheap holiday once in a while, somewhere where you can relax or explore or play games then Llandudno is the place to go. Llandudno is based in North Wales about 20 minutes drive away from Liverpool. Llandudno is a great Victorian tourist place because of its amazing attractions the brilliant views and ice creams (they are brilliant.) There are a load of great attractions here are a few: Llandudno is home of two great hills (but some call them mountains) called the great Orme and the little Orme These are facinating views from the bottom (looking at it) and from the ... more

Advantages Advantages Plenty To See And Do, Nice Sandy Beach

Disadvantages Disadvantages Largely Closed During Winter

Llandudno has always been one of my most favourite parts of North Wales. When I was a young Child my Parents had a Camper Van and we would spend many weekends in this area. As a Seaside Resort I always found that Llandudno had much more character to it than many of the other traditional Seaside towns that I was familiar with, including the nearby resort of Rhyl. When I was recently asked by a group of friends if I fancied a daytrip to Llandudno I therefore naturally jumped at the chance. Llandudno has quite an impressive Beach, which is long and sandy and curves in the shape of a crescent ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice beaches, good shops, good walks.

I remember visiting Llandudno with my parents when I was a child, for our annual holiday. I have happy memories of building sandcastles, playing on the two Ormes and walking along the long crescent promenade eating ice creams! Ah, happy days! I have been to Llandudno a few times since, but only for a couple of hours on a day trip from home in the Midlands. While we were on holiday on Anglesey we went back onto the mainland to Llandudno on a couple of occasions and I was able to see a lot more of the town and the Great Orme in particular. The town and long sandy beach are sheltered by The Great ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages ------------------

TRAVELLING Not having a car, our family find it hard to find nice places to go on holiday to. My mums friend has a sister that lives in Llandudno and he visits every year in the May bank holiday. It is very easy to get to. We live in Liverpool and Llandudno is in North Wales so it is not far away at all. We get the train from Liverpool to Chester and then another train from Chester to Llandudno. THE TOWN The town itself is very small. It is on the edge of a small mountain called The Great Orme. This means everything is uphill (or downhill depending on which direction you are going). It is also ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lovely beach

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not enough places to eat on the seafront

Last month as the weather was so nice we decided to go to Llandudno for the day, we went there last year and found a lovely beach there and plenty do to. We live in Manchester and it is only roughly an hour an 10 minutes away for us, we just put in Llandudno town centre in the sat nav and it takes you to the beach as the town centre is located right next to the beach. When you get to the beach it is really cheap to park if you drive along the sea front until you get to a gate, where there is a man standing there, it is only £2.50 to go through the gate and park there all day, which is the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good family place

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Boring

Two weekends ago, two mates and myself decided to have a couple of days in Wales. First we went to Criccieth for a bit of an adventure thing, but didn’t want to stay there for the night (especially after driving through the town when we got there!). So we settled on Llandudno, billed as ‘Wales’s Premier Resort’. Here is a snippet of the Llandudno Tourist Board’s website: “Think of the seaside, sun-kissed sands, elegant promenades, stylish shopping, wonderful accommodation, world class theatre, international cuisine and a wealth of attractions and entertainment, and you automatically think ... more
