One Scary Ferris Wheel

Advantages: experience, fun
Disadvantages: not good for people who suffer from heights

...on the peak of the London Eye! The queue for the Wheel was very long though. But one can't really complain, considering it is world famous and of course there would a long queue. However, it is always better to book your tickets or order them as you get better prices and packages, especially for the family, and you don't have to worry about queing for ANOTHER queue! Anyway, the queues are quite long but when I was queing, everyone seemed a ...
...The people in charge of the Eye have a very good system in how to regulate the queues and when you buy the tickets, you ahve to specify the time in which you are going on.....e.g.. 3pm and therefore that entitles you to queue for that time. So if you have a different time ticket, you aren't allowed to cue unless your time has been called over the tanoy! Therefore the queues seem more bearble than the usual slog to get on the ride. Later on, ...

Eye spy with my little eye...

Advantages: nice view
Disadvantages: depends on day of visit

The london eye, one of the millennium projects along with the infamous dome and bridge and possibly the only successful one. Towering above the cityscape and reaching a height of 450 feet, this 30 mins flight is not that bad. To get there is pretty easy as it is in central London though parking can be a bit of a problem, Westminster tube station is nearby and close to eye itself, it is easy to see which direction to go as the eye is pretty easy to ...
...hustle and bustle of central london all depends on the day you go on. If it is cloudy and miserable, well I gues it's pretty obvious, and if you go on a clear sunny day.....The trip takes 30 mins and is actually quite long if you aren't enjoying yourself and it is advisable to go with friends so you have something to talk about. The view once you reach the top however is pretty good and on a good day you can see quite a distance. If you like a slow ...

London From Above

Advantages: Excellent views of London, well priced
Disadvantages: The lines for queing can be long

The British Airways London Eye is the tallest structure in London and looks just like a large Ferris Wheel. It is called the British Airways London Eye because British Airways have sponsored this attraction since 1996. Getting There The London Eye is situated pretty much in the middle of London on the South Bank of the River Thames. The London Eye is actually about a 3 minute walk from Westminster tube station and Waterloo main station so I would ...
...of the entrance to the London Eye ride. I always find the queue here, although sometimes long, does move quickly. Quick tip, if you book online at least 24 hours before you go, you get a discount and can actually pre-book the time of your flight which is convenient for people on a timescale as it saves you waiting around once you get there. The Ride A trip on the London Eye is referred to as a flight and I assume this is something to do with is ...

Not For Faint Hearted Parents

Advantages: Well worth a visit
Disadvantages: Crowded

...history and details of the London Eye. If you don't know about it, well, where have you been? All I will say is that it genuinely adds something to the capital and graces the bank of the Thames far more than the incumbent opposite on the north bank, the Houses of Parliament. But just how easy is it to visit, particularly during the school holidays, especially with a five year old and two year old in tow? Why go? Is it worth the effort? How did ...
...the Fast Track are that London Eye claim that you only need to arrive at the Eye fifteen minutes before booked departure time plus you get a free guide. There are other packages, such as the "Cupids Capsule" and other such romantic slush, where for £269 you get served champagne and chocs in your own capsule. Personally, I'd sooner spend that sort of money on football, beer, etc, but I digress. Anyway, I went for the basic Eye Flight for midday but ...

Eye can see for miles and miles

Advantages: Wonderful views
Disadvantages: A little pricey

...the millennium dome, it's the London Eye that is going to be the success story of the millennium. I rode the Eye on a rainy day in spring and even then it was absolutely breathtaking. The views are absolutely amazing, and as there were only about a dozen people to a car there was no overcrowding and everybody got a really good view. I'm scared of heights and I was very, very worried that I'd be terrified in what is really just a large jam jar circling ...
...for disabled visitors. The London Eye is constantly turning but they pause it for a moment to allow wheelchair access when necessary. A guide accompanies each and every car. Ours wasn't at all pushy and didn't keep up a whining monologue that nobody listens to throughout the trip as I've been subjected to in other tourist attractions, however, he was more than happy to answer questions and take photo's when asked. My one criticism would have to ...

Zaphod sez - I can see my house from here

Advantages: Great view, can see for miles, wonderful landmark.
Disadvantages: View can get boring after 15 minutes.

...roof that practically houses the london eye. The London Eye is an enjoyable and exciting couple of hours out....I say a couple of hours because the queues are massive. In the queue you wait for a very long time and go up a walkway into a room with a green background. You stand in front of the background and they take a picture of you, which is then put into a picture of a capsule on a nice sunny day using blue screen technology. It's pretty cool, ...
...Waterloo, to get to the London eye, just come out of the underground part of the station and walk a bit towards the river and look up, it will be pretty obvious how to get there after that :) if you are coming by anywhere else, you will most likely need to cross the river at some point, if you come over Westminster bridge, again, look up :) From anywhere else, look up and you'll see it, if not carry on going and keep looking up :D It is obviously ...

Spectacular views over our capital

Advantages: great views, cheaper than most attractions
Disadvantages: can be long queues - book your ticket in advance

...home from a day-trip to London and I felt I had to write and tall you all about the London Eye. I was dubious about this attraction at first - I felt it was money badly spent - as most of the government's other 'milennium' ideas were. But today, with queues at an absolute minimum, we felt that it was time to give it a chance. It only took us 5 minutes until we enetered our pod and the whole attraction lasted for half an hour - a good amount of time ...

The only place to see London as a whole

Advantages: Great views. Value for money. Easy to get to.
Disadvantages: Needs a guide. Could be higher?

As someone who regularly visits London I always get the sense that I will never know it properly. I know separate areas well and I can navigate between them easily on the tube but I never seem to be able to connect the different parts together. Is Clapham north of Balham? Is Kensington west of Soho? The London Eye allows a visitor to do this, as well as providing great views of a city that has few other lofty vantage points, and none so central. ...
...but when compared to other London attractions is undoubtedly worth the money. The queue looked enormous but in fact moved remarkably quickly. I was ascending the eye within half an hour of arriving. This appears to be due to a very efficient staff, who maintain a quick flow of people, even telling slower individuals to get a move on! Once on board there is a relaxed atmosphere, with 20 or so people easily fitting into the spacious interior. Some ...

Flight over London

Advantages: great view
Disadvantages: expensive

Last weekend I went to London and of course wanted to take a flight with the famous London Eye. First of all: Yes, it is worth doing it! Facts The London big wheal was sponsored by BA. This might explain, why you call it a flight with the London Eye and not a ride! Originally, it was created specially for the entrance in the new century by the architects David Marks and Julia Barfield. The project took about 6 years to be completed, but that clearly ...
...fly right up over the London skyline up to 135 metres. That’s double the height of the prater wheel in Vienna. And I thought, that was high! The London big wheel is indeed within the 5 highest “buildings” in London. Flight The flight itself took 30 minutes, that pass very quickly, as the view is fantastic. You can see a few kilometre over Londons centre and the area around the Themse from the top. Booking I assume, it is much more quieter now ...

A wheelie great day out

Advantages: Wonderful views of London
Disadvantages: Bad weather would spoil views

For a unique experience in London you can't beat a trip on the London Eye. Admittedly I was apprehensive, as a person who is scared of fairground rides, would I be able to cope with being carried hundreds of feet in the air in a glass capsule? I wasn't sure, but decided to give it a go. Despite having timed tickets, my party had to queue for a hour before boarding our flight (as rides are called, no doubt as the wheel is sponsored by British Airways). ...

Great half hour

Advantages: Different views of the sights
Disadvantages: not knowing what is what

...is planning a dayout in London then one of the must see attractions has got to be the Millenium Eye. Until you actually see it then you will not believe just how big it really is. If you have a clear day then it is a terrific way to see the whole of the London skyline. One piece of advice would be to invest in the guide book as otherwise you will spend the whole time guessing which buildings are which as there is no guide in the pods. All in all ...

Advantages: wonderful bidseye veiw
Disadvantages: closed in strong winds

The London Eye is the largest ferris wheel type construction. It is by the River Thames and affords a FANTASTIC veiw of London. On a clear day you cam see for 30 miles in all directions and WHAT A SIGHT it is. As a visitor to London it is well worth going up, the trip taks about 30 mins and is wonderful. Great for those who love to take pictures and you can see the other major tourist attractions , The Tower of London ,st Pauls and it is fairly ...

A birds eye view

Advantages: Get to see London from above
Disadvantages: A long queue (for me)

...wanted to go on the London Eye since it first opened but didn't have the chance till last December for my 14th birthday. Being last December I won't quite remember all of it. My experience of the London Eye might have never happened because of thick fog, I mean I wouln't have wanted to go just to see nothing of London would I ! But luckily the fog cleared for a beutiful clear day. The bad thing about popular attractions is the waiting in queues ...
...good view of the 135metre London Eye so it was O.K. It was £4.00 for a child and £9.00 for an adult and was definetly worth the money. The pods moved very slowly (10 inches per second) and almost seemed as if they weren't moving at all. The pods were glass all round so there is a view from north, east, south and west. At first I could get a very clear view of the River Thames and as I moved up, other sites began to come more clear like Big Ben, ...

...and know London pretty well. They'll show you the bits you don't know and most of them are unemployed actors, so they're pretty affable. Don't go at twilight if you can help it. Try straight daylight or night-time. Still, at any time this is a blissful and surreal experience. ...

An eye opener! hoho

Advantages: Very good value, amazing views.!
Disadvantages: Not long enough at the top

The London Eye was something i was excited about when i first heard about it. Then i heard that it cost £7.50 for a ride and was a bit put off. Dont be. It takes 32mins to rotate (at about walking pace) and is well worth it. You get an amazing view of the river and the rest of London and on a clear day you can see for miles. The cabins do not make you feel frightened of the height and are air conditioned. They are large enough to avoid claustraphobia ...
...you want it and in the evening i hear that the views are even more spectacular than the day. It is well worth it and i will be returning in the near future to 'get away' from the hussle of the city for a while. If you go try and go on a weekday so as to aviod queues or pre-book because it can take a while if you go on the weekend although seeing the odd empty booth go around is confusing and frustrating. Go -its really eye opening (chuckle chuckle).! ...
