All Change Please
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by

Advantages: Organised Transfer System
Disadvantages: Overloaded transfer Buses
On a recent trip to Toronto I had cause to use the Transfer facility at Heathrow airport.
I flew to Toronto via Heathrow from Manchester, it was'nt so much the change of terminals that bothered me but how it was going to happen, I had tried the BAA website but could not find any info for transferring passengers thus I had no idea what to expect.
= THE TRANSFER =
My flight landed at Heathrow on time, on leaving the plane at T1 ...

Terminal 5. Is it now needed.
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
andycharger
Advantages: Handles lots of tourists
Disadvantages: Too busy, badly designed.
With recent event affecting the global market for air travel, many flight related industries are laying off many staff.
Boeing, who make the planes, are laying of 12,000. Airbus have no new orders. United Airlines are laying off staff as are British Airways and Virgin.
With the reduction in size of our air carriers, the question is, do we really need the nwe Terminal 5 at Heathrow?
From early indications, it would appear the general public has ...

T5 the future
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
kimberley1986
Advantages: Clean, easy to get around
Disadvantages: none
Heathrow Terminal 5 is the most anticipated building to be made.
This project cost over £4 Billion to make and that £4 BN is worth it!
We flew from Terminal 5 a week after it had opened and I must say what a tremendous site this building is! Its is made from Steel and Glass, it has quick check in and a few ground crew sat at the desks to take the suitcases. There is no faffing around waiting in huge ques to check in and deposit your case.

Holideck at heathrow Terminal 4
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
danielkatya
Advantages: Great VIP lounge.
Disadvantages: None to mention
After checking out of the 4 star Hilton Heathrow, prior to my trans-Atlantic crossing to, my main concern was not to blow my 'spending money' in the tax free haven that is the departure areas. In fact this had been a fear that I had pre-assessed before leaving my home town of Norwich, and I had taken relevant precautions to avoid just such a mishap occurring.
After speaking to a few chums I decided that the best way to avoid the magnet like duty ...

An Unimpressed Terminal 3 User
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
lucybradly
Advantages: Check in procedure quick. Choice of eateries and shops is good
Disadvantages: Severe lack of toilets and seats in waiting area
I am not impressed with Heathrow Airport at all. I have just used Terminal 3 to get my flight to Tokyo and have not enjoyed using the airport one bit.
On arrival at the Terminal I made my way into the check in area, to be fair there were no problems there, I managed to get a trolley for my luggage quickly and I was checked in relatively fast. After managing to find the signs to direct me to the departure lounge, I made my way there. The first ...

What will visitors say
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
babyenne
Advantages: Organised chaos...sometimes
Disadvantages: Dirty and unorganised
Ok. I have no statistics to back up my opinion here. All I have is my opinion based on my experience.
Heathrow could have been a much better place. When I first arrived in Heathrow over 10 years ago, first thing I noticed was the amount of people squeezed into such a cramp place. The arrival hall was like a market place. I was worried that if I had taken my eyes off my aunt who went to pick me up, I would never find my way out of there.
All ...

Where's the exit? Where?
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
Tigger1313
Advantages: Easy to get to London from the airport (for those who don't drive)
Disadvantages: The 47-mile walk to Immigration, plus the never-ending queue for us non-Europeans
...chauffeur take me from SW London to the airport. She dropped me off in front of the terminal (thus the shortest walk I ever had to the ticket counter), and I staggered in, still reeling from the wild ride. (No fault of her own, but drivers in London remind me of drivers in New York City. Just as crazy driving on the other side of the road with about 40,000 more roundabouts.) Nothing is marked well at all, and it took some time to locate the AA counter, ...

Heathrow-The Big One
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
ashford
Advantages: Large. Good facilities. Good shops.
Disadvantages: Expensive to park. Check in can take time
London Heathrow is a massive airport and is the busiest international airport in the world. Its huge size brings both advantages and disadvantages.First there are currently four terminals, with Terminal One being for domestic flights, terminal two for European flights, terminal three for inter-continental flights and terminal four for British Airways and a number of other airlines. It is thus important before you set off for the airport to know which ...

It's all in a days work
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by

Advantages: Good choice of airline, reasonable shopping
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to get around, public transport not brilliant
There can be no doubt that Heathrow can be a frustrating place to be if you are not a regular passing through, so here a few thoughts/ideas to help ease your passage:
TRANSPORT TO/FROM HEATHROW
Heathrow is served by various different public transfer options. The quickest (and most expensive!) is the Heathrow Express, which will deliver you to Paddington in around 15 mins. If you are travelling the to LHR, you have the advantage of being able ...

All you need to know!
Review of London Heathrow (LHR) by
apo11o
Advantages: Biggest choice of airline in the country. Many flights.
Disadvantages: Expensive to park your car here. Very busy at times.
Heathrow is not only London's biggest airport, but the world's busiest! Leave plenty of time to catch your flight, especially on Friday nights, Sunday nights, and Monday mornings. The airport has four terminals. 1, 2 and three are very close together, whilst terminal 4 is a short bus ride away from the other three. There are regular shuttle-busses running between terminals. If you are driving to the airport, find the cheapest airport before you leave. ...
