...though it's classed as a London airport. There are a number of ways to get to Stansted Airport by public transport, one is by train. There is a 'Stansted Express' train which runs from Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport. It only takes 45 minutes and makes one stop off at Tottenham Hale. The other way is by bus and coach. Buses and coaches regularly run from Liverpool Street, Baker Street, Victoria and Kings Cross directly to Stansted Airport. Of ... ...live in Essex so it's only around a 20 mile drive away which is really convienient otherwise I'd have to go to Gatwick or Luton which is a bit of a trip. The airport is situated just off the M11 and is well signed up. The best way to find it if you are unsure is by sat nav or route planner. The downside with driving to Stansted Airport is having to pay for the carpark whilst you go on holiday - the best way to avoid this is to get somebody to drop ...

...airport is usually the cheapest London airport to fly from, as it is the airport that most of the budget airlines fly from. I use it regularly. I used to avoid the early and late arrivals, assuming that getting to and from the airport would be too difficult, however I've found that it's quite achievable. It's definitely worth trying out a few 1p 6.30am flights! I can offer the following tips for using Stansted efficiently:
Getting to and from the ... ...them. They leave from London Victoria and go direct to the airport without stopping. It takes 1hour 15 minutes off-peak . I couldn't say how long it takes in peak hours, or any time after 7am or before 10pm, as I have never used them then, but I assume it takes a fair while longer. The route goes through central London along the Embankment and out through Canary Wharf to Stratford (which is, incidentally, quite a scenic route for tourists), so I ...

Stansted is on the Hearts/Essex border and although it is a bit out of the way to have the prefix "London" it is worth the extra miles. The low-cost airlines of Ryanair and EasyJet fly out from Stansted so it is much cheaper to fly than BA but also Stansted has much improved services than Heathrow and Gatwick for unstressful flying.

ROAD: Stansted is off from J8a of the M11 and is about 20 minutes from the M25, but inevitably ... ...have the choice of three different types of parking: Long-Stay, Mid-Stay and Short-Stay.
Long-Stay is the cheapest than the others but futhest away from the terminal. Even though you may be only parking you car for only 3 days i is still the cheapest at £7.20 a day (more than 6 days at £6.80). The car park is very big and will take a long time being directed to a zone and then your parking space (especially if it is Zone Z - at the back). A transfer ...

Getting to Stansted is very easy indeed, being conveniently located and easily accessible from most places. The trains run roughly every quarter of an hour during the day, and less often in the early morning/evening. ...good collection of trains to London Liverpool Street station which takes 41 minutes, there are trains departing every 15 minutes during the weekday and every 30 minutes during thee early morning, late evening and at weekends. The airport is also directly linked to Peterborough, Birmingham and Leicester where further connections take you further into the Midlands and North. At first site this seemed a good option for us as we were travelling from ... ...the main routes being from London and the surrounding counties and the Midlands. We decided against a coach connection as this is not a comfortable option for Mum and the travelling time would be such that we may as well have considered the train as at least she would have better freedom of movement on there if a back cramp set in.

I flew through London Stansted last summer, to Lamezia South Italy with Ryanair (see my previous opinion), and I was very impressed with the airport. I didn't quite know what to expect with the airport or with flying, and I wasn't expecting the airport to be so well equipped with everything a traveller would need! The airport is a large airy and high-roofed structure consisting of glass panels allowing lots of light in. The place is therefore well ... ...runs to the airport from London every 15 minutes, so if you want to travel via public transport such as coach or rail from anywhere else in the country it could often be easier and quicker to travel via London using the shuttle bus. As you enter through the main entrance of Stansted you immediately encounter the check-in desks. ...a plan to come to London (only for the second time) in September to stay there for a few days. And I have these two problems.
First:
On the arrival day I want together with my friend visit a football match at Wembley starting at 3 pm. But my flight arrive only at 1:20 pm (which I realized only after I booked the ticket). So I know that Stansted Express is the most expensive way to get to the center of London from where I can use tube, but I believe ... ...option to get there on time (maybe???). Maybe taxi which by estimation is around 60Ł could be fastest or not. Anyway, since there is no possibility to enter Wembley with the baggage nor they have a special storage to leave it there, I need to stop at Liverpool Street where I found a place to store the baggage. I suppose if we leave the airport in 10 min, come to Liverpool in 50 min, leave baggage in 10 min, come to Wembley in 20 min, a walk ...

If you live North of London or East of London, you used to have a real job getting to a decent enough airport to take you on your holidays every year.
Sure you do have Luton but its not exactly international class.
So when the plans to extend Stansted into London's "3rd Airport" were announced, I was quite happy. It was going to be goodbye to the arduous trips around the M25 to Gatwick and Heathrow and instead, a 25 minute drive through pleasant ... ...it is to fly from.
Its nowhere near as big as Heathrow or Gatwick but it is much more modern and geared towards todays modern traveller.
Its all under one roof at the moment too which makes travelling around the airport much easier.
The Check in desks are straight ahear of you as you enter the main terminal.
The terminal has actually swopped sides of the runway since the buiding that was being used since the late 60's is now used as offices on ...

...if travelling from the M11 London or from the M25.
Parking at the Airport is slightly cheaper than at Gatwick or Heathrow.There is a long stay car park which is situated about 3/4 mile from junction 8(some 3 miles from the terminal.If you park there a free bus service brings you to the airport every 10 minutes.The short stay car park is situated at the front of the terminal with easy access to the building.
Once inside the terminal the check in ... ...situated at the far right hand corner of the terminal next to the International Arrivals.
At the moment the Airport is not particuarly busy,so getting through security is not a problem.Sometimes during the summer there can be long delays getting through security(so be aware)
At the moment the transit train service to the gates is being improved,so transport to the various departure gates(except domestic) is via coaches.Again allow an extra 5/10 ...

...or Gatwick, I found this London airport to be a super place from which to start your overseas holiday.
It has numerous advantages, the main one being that I found it had a much more laid-back and less-congested atmosphere about it, enabling me to start my holiday free from the stresses previously encountered at larger airports.
I found that I could leave the car at home and escape parking costs as access by public transport is very easy. There ... ...the airport has its own railway station situated just below the airport terminal building. A regular express train runs between here and Liverpool Street station in London.
Check-in desks were easy to find and queues dispersed quickly. Until the flight is called, there are plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you amused, both before and after passport control. However, as with most airports I've visited, the food is quite expensive. I was particularly ...

...less bust than the other London airports and has a more relaxed feel about it.
There is not as much to do but because the ease of transition through the airport is so good you don't need so much.
The range of shopping is adequate and the food on sale is overpriced but good.
It has a direct link to London via rail and is close to the M11 for London travel.
The range of destinations is also less than the other airports so it may not be an optionfor ...

Advantages: cheap flights Disadvantages: nothing to do at the airport
Stansted is the easiest airport for me to reach,and the airport that I choose to fly from ,that said I can't help but feel that they have neglected to begin your holiday from the airport.
Parking with the pink elephant is easy and fairy reasonable £18.00 for 3 days .You park the car in an off site car park and regular busses collect you from the bus stop nearest the car .You must remember where you left the car..The bus will collect you from near ... ...that they will cram every passenger possible on the bus back ..which means that you end up waiting until the bus is bursting..and the driver gets a little ratty when he can't cram anyone else on.You can pay for the parking at the machines in the baggage claim hall..so keep the ticket handy .This will save time leaving the car park.We paid cash but I beleive the machine took cards.
The bus drops you off outside the main door and check in is easy ...

...is the right side of London for me to go onto Taunton, and in the event that I get seriously held up and need a place to sleep for the night, it is a lot easier getting to friends in London, a taxi costing only £20-25. Whilst Heathrow is more comfortable for those sleeping overnight at the airport, having a larger seating area, Stansted is nevertheless not bad. ...
